Listen to native bird song, watch stunning sunrises, and stargaze from lovely Pi Honi cabin, at Ao Marama Retreat. The cabin itself is a twin cabin (two single bed) of wood construction and built to minimise it's impact on the environment, with enough comforts to make your stay feel like a true escape. Ao Marama Retreat in Golden Bay, New Zealand is a former Buddhist centre set on a hill amongst 16 acres of Regenerating Native Bush with sweeping views of the sparkling ocean below. We have view points and bush tracks throughout the property including one that leads down to sweeping Collingwood Beach which is safe for swimming, or just chilling out. Guests will have access to our lovely Al Fresco Kitchen and Diner - which is kitted out with everything you need to prepare you meals and drinks and enjoy on the viewing platform in the dining area. As well as the toilet and shower building - guests can use our famous 'Loo with a view' is a composting toilet which is great for the environment and let's you enjoy that superb view while doing the do. Everyone is welcome on our wooden viewing deck for relaxing, enjoying an aperitif and enjoying the stunning sunrises. We live in the main retreat building a short walk from the Cabin and are available for help when you need or happy to leave you to enjoy the peace. Walking a further 25 minutes along the beach brings you to Milnthorpe Forest and Scenic reserve. Beyond that Golden Bay offers many unique and stunning attractions – from an Eco Tour to Farewell Spit, Walking the Heaphy Trail, Mountain Biking former Gold Mining routes, fishing for Salmon or discovering many of the stunning beaches including Wharariki or experiencing the clearest freshwater in the southern hemisphere at Pupu springs. Discover Golden Bay. It is recommended to have your own transport to enjoy Golden Bay to it's fullest - whether that be cycle, motor bike or car - and we have private parking on-site. However there are buses that run throughout Golden Bay and stop in Collingwood.
