Lovely dog friendly family home in rural Somerset
This is a charming home set in a small very quiet hamlet. Built in 1650 of local Ham Stone, the house sits within an enclosed private walled garden which is a great sun trap during the summer. The house is predominantly furnished with antiques, and the space has been designed around family living so there is plenty of space for everyone to come together, as well as find their own space to relax. Plenty of local walks, pubs and the Jurassic Coast under 30 minutes away will keep everybody busy. This is our family home so you should find it well equipped for a great stay. The kitchen is at the heart and it is well stocked with everything you will need. The rest of the ground floor is made up of: a dining area with a large refectory table and benches (great for long lunches); a good sized sitting room with open fire; the playroom / music / extra bedroom which is is great place for the kids to escape too whilst the grown-ups relax next door. Upstairs you will find: a large master bedroom with a large study connected; a good size double bedroom; a bunk room (there is also z bed here) and a family bathroom. The garden is about 1/3 acre laid to lawn, orchard and vegetable plot. There is a trampoline which gets a lot of use from the kids. Guests will have access to the whole property. We will not usually be around, but very accessible on the phone and email. Our neighbour is Housekeeper and helps with the arrivals, departures and cleaning and she is usually close by. The house is in a rural setting in South West Somerset but with great accessibility from the A303 and to several lovely English market towns (Crewkerne, Honiton, Ilminster, Sherborne) , great walks and National Trust properties. Best of all are the day trips to the coast to places such as Lyme Regis, Bridport and Burton Bradstock. To get here you are best using car. The local train station is Crewkerne, but Yeovil Junction has a few more trains and is not much further away. Unfortunately the local bus routes are very few and far between. Beds - x1 Super-king , x1 Queen, x1 bunk bed (adult single size beds) + x1 z bed, x1 double sofa bed (in play/music room) Kitchen - you should find lots of essentials to help you prepare food. Help yourself and leave a contribution if you use loads of something. There should be tea and coffees there. Grab a pint of milk at the garage on the way. Lovely fresh eggs can be bought from Jose next door (towards the centre of the village), great farm shop in Lopez about 1 mile away. Cooking - gas hob and electric oven, plus a microwave. Loads of cooking equipment and crockery etc as we like our food. Linen - all linen and towels etc provided. Washing and drying facilities available. Help yourself to detergent. Soaps, cleaning stuff - plenty will be available. We are trying to move to as little plastic as possible so will hopefully be traditional soaps and solid shampoos etc. Bring your own shower gels etc if you prefer these.
