Kim and Sam. ************************************************** '1965 Lobethal' is only 45 minutes from the CBD of Adelaide but a world away from the everyday. The house has been styled with an eclectic blend of Danish and Mid Century furniture and is located in a hills village where people still smile as you walk pass them in the street. Take a peek at our '1965 Lobethal' Insta for updates and things to do nearby. The accommodation is spacious with two bedrooms ( king size beds); a fully equipped kitchen; beautiful bathroom; a reading room (the Nook) ; lounge & separate dining room & laundry. The small private garden has been planted out with bird attracting plants and has an outdoor patio. Original artworks by Adelaide Hills artists are interspersed with funky retro art. If you are a history buff or just the curious type, you'll enjoy our 'Heritage Hallway' featuring reproductions of vintage posters and photographs. We have a small collection of books about local history. There is no wifi so that you can 'unplug' and play a game of chess or crochet a granny square. Lobethal was the home of Onkaparinga Woollen Mill blankets from 1879 until 1993. Although they are no longer made here, our bedrooms feature Onkaparinga Wool Quilts. Electric blankets & comfy pillow top beds ensure a good night's sleep. Our linens are hotel quality too! Retro lamps in the living areas create a warm ambiance and an extensive record collection featuring artists from the 1960's will keep those with a love of vinyl happy. Perhaps you'd like to make your own music with the house guitar? In our sunny kitchen, you'll find locally sourced breakfast provisions. Stay in and cook or pop out for a meal. Nearby is the sublime Emma & Ivy Cafe . Think delicious whole foods, fantastic coffee and wood oven pizza just a short walk away. Just next door, you will find the fabulous Hugel Wine bar and at the end of the street, the Lobethal Bierhaus. Our sleek contemporary bathroom is stocked with Wallawa Indigenous Botanical products and fluffy white towels. Come for a stay in the country. 1965 is perfect for one or two couples or a small group of friends. Not suited to children under 12. The house and the gardens are yours to enjoy. We will provide an access keycode & instructions the day before your check in. Check in is contactless. We are nearby if you need help but generally we leave our guests to immerse themselves in the 1965 experience. Despite its proximity to Adelaide, Lobethal is a country town. It is surrounded by farming landscapes & unspoilt natural beauty, has the feel of a village and strong sense of community. As you drive into Lobethal you are met by the iconic red brick walls & saw tooth roof of the State Heritage Listed Onkaparinga Woollen Mills. The Mill now houses a number of artisan manufactures, including Udder Delights Cheeses and of course the Lobethal Bierhaus. An emerging Arts and Heritage Hub hosting exhibitions, events and heritage information is also an exciting addition to the old Woollen Mill site. Located on the lawns in front of the old Mill is Sculpture No 7 on the Hills Sculpture Trail, 'SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, WINTER AND...' created in 2012 by HWANG SEUNG-WOO from South Korea. Follow the trail to discover 26 world class sculptures scattered throughout the Adelaide Hills. Lobethal is usually a peaceful village but at times comes alive with special events such as the Lobethal Christmas Lights Festival often closely followed by the Tour Down Under. It's also a popular motorcycle destination with the Amberlight Cafe receiving visitors on two wheels since the 1930's. If you walk the main street, you'll also find a top and bottom pub, great bakery, Mr Murphy's takeaway, the Chess Studio, and quirky little shops. Unexpected offerings include a great funky vintage shop and a creative , ethical clothing store. Lobethal is located 45 minutes from the Adelaide CBD in the heart of the Adelaide Hills and so is the perfect base from which to explore the northern & central regions of the Adelaide Hills. There are over 10 Boutique Cellar Doors within 15 minutes of Lobethal as well as superb hiking and biking experiences, delicious dining options and seasonal delights such as the 'Cherry Trail'. Go for a drive to other nearby towns. In Gumeracha you'll find the newly opened Coach House gallery; Mt Pleasant has a fantastic farmer's market on Saturday mornings; Birdwood is home to the National Motor Museum and there's lots more! The northern Adelaide Hills is a place for those who prefer the road less travelled - come explore! Lobethal has very limited public transport. It is possible to access the CBD by Bus - but there are very few buses. To explore the region, you will need a car. •We use only environmentally friendly cleaning products. •The house accommodates 4 GUESTS ONLY.
