Romance, peace. Air Lodge - this gorgeous 12 sided ‘yurt style’ lodge with its self supporting roof has been crafted from 8 different native timbers including the kitchen, which is made from camphor laurel, delivering a wonderful smell each time you enter the lodge. Nestled high in the rainforest and reached by your own 16 meter footbridge, this lodge is all about true romance! In the bedroom, the timber bed has been cleverly designed to suit the curving walls - kingsize at the head, tapering to a foot-warming double at the base; while the bathroom features his & hers basins and, for that matter, his & hers showers (not forgetting the outside hot and cold shower in the trees, for the more adventurous). The privacy created by the forest, the extra outside hot shower and hammock amongst the palm trees and the spa on the balcony make it your ideal honeymoon lodge. Lots of wildlife for you to see from the deck – a ‘birdies’ paradise. Your own unique lodge is fully self-contained and sits 1/3km from the next lodge. Surrounded by rainforest, it is completely privacy & beautiful. Your lodge has its own spa, fireplace, balcony & covered carport. The office at the Retreat is manned between 10 and 2:30pm most days. Our region boasts 14 national parks including world heritage listed Mt Warning, The Pinnacles, The Border Ranges & The Nightcap Ranges. These all offer wonderful bush-walking experiences and great views, and most of them are free of charge to use. Bring good walking shoes, water bottles which you can fill with our beautiful spring water, and binoculars. The Mt Warning track is open and available for climbing. There are also lots of stunning walks close by including walking the scenic rim of the volcano at the Border Ranges looking back to the West over many mountain peaks and Mt Warning itself, viewing this from a different angle to the usual one in the photos. These ranges are often overlooked due to focus on Mt Warning, but are in our opinion some of the best scenic walks in the Northern Rivers region. If you don't feel like cooking while you are here, you can either have us bring you a lovely home cooked meal to your lodge or walk next door to the Rainforest Café (breakfast and Lunch) or the wonderful Mavises Kitchen (Lunch and Dinner). Further afield you head into the many excellent restaurants and pubs in Uki (5 minutes) or Murwillumbah (10 minutes) or head further to the Gold Coast, Tweed Coast or Byron Bay – all under 45 minutes. The Murwillumbah Arts Centre, Tweed Valley Art Gallery, Husk Distillers and Stone & Wood Brewery are gaining a worldwide wide reputation. And the area is teaming with providores, artists and musicians who you will meet at the many Fairs and Markets held throughout the year. You can hire a car from East Coast Car Rentals (5 mins from the Coolangatta Airport) or local taxis. Remember it is quite cool at night so bring warm clothing for the winter months.
