Renovated in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Wake up to the breath-taking views over Lake Maggiore. Enjoy breakfast on the private rooftop terrace then take a stroll along the wooded hillside down the well marked footpath into the historic lakeside town of Stresa. Enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants in town then take a boat ride to visit the Borromean islands or a cable car ride up to the local mountain, the Mottarone to catch spectacular views of Italy's other lakes and the nearby alpine peaks. Return to the villa for a glass of local wine and supper over-looking the lake and relax as the setting sun paints the panoramic view in a rosy glow before retiring for a well-earned rest. The apartment is self-contained and guests have exclusive access to all spaces. It is situated in the grounds of a larger villa which may be occupied by the owner and guests, but each building has its own private outdoor spaces. I live in the UK, but am often working for extended periods in the Milan area when I will normally use the main villa adjacent to the cottage as a base. The cottage's house-keeper lives locally; her name is Daniella and she can be contacted during your stay for emergencies or problems with the accommodation (her number is in the guest information folder in the apartment). I am happy to answer any queries through the messaging service on the AirBnB website during your stay, but cannot promise an instant reply. The apartment sits in the grounds of Villa La Vedetta (The Lookout). The villa has a large wooded garden on a steep hillside over-looking the lake and the apartment is set in this garden. The village is partly residential and partly holiday homes for Italians living and working in Milan. It is a very quiet location with no traffic noise, being on a small road that ends 500m from the house and becomes an ancient woodland track that used to be the trading route from Arona to Stresa and beyond. The walking route into Stresa is well marked and avoids roads until it reaches the edge of the historic lakeside town. It is advisable to have a car or motorcycle whilst staying at the cottage. There is free off-street private parking. Motorbikes can be securely parked outside the cottage on a private gated driveway. It is possible to arrive in Stresa by train or private airport shuttle bus and then use taxis to get into Stresa from the cottage. It is a 25 minute walk into Stresa down a well marked hillside footpath. The area is ideal for hikers.
