The unit is welcoming, well appointed, and centrally located. A quiet spot with convenient access to shops, restaurants and the beautiful riverside New Norfolk is renowned for. It is perfectly placed to explore both wilderness and city - Mona museum (15 mins) and Hobart City to the south (30 mins), and Mountfield National Park and the world class Maydena Bike Park to the west (40 mins). A spacious, single storey unit with open plan lounge/kitchen area, bedroom, bathroom, courtyard and parking. It is situated in a quiet cul de sac in the town centre of New Norfolk minutes from shops, pubs, restaurants and parkland walks. Guests can clean bikes and outdoor recreation equipment in the court yard. There is a small shed with sufficient storage space for bikes. If you prefer to cook for yourselves the large Woolworths supermarket is just five minutes walk around the corner and the unit kitchen is fully equipped with stove, microwave and fridge freezer and kitchen equipment. A pod coffee maker, plunger and teapots are available for breakfast and hot drinks and the little courtyard behind the unit provides a great sunny spot to sit at the table and chairs and enjoy an outdoor drink. A washing machine, and indoor and outdoor washing lines, iron and ironing board are also available. There are a wall heater and a portable heater available in the unit for colder days and all windows are fitted with double blinds to provide shade from the sun on hot days and blackout blinds at night. Although the property is right in the town centre, it's in a little cul de sac so the area is very quiet and it's easy to get a good nights sleep. The unit is equipped with comfortable seating, dining table, a TV and everything you will need to relax. If you have a baby or toddler a travel cot with linen, a single stroller, highchair, small supply of books and toys and changing mat are provided. The entire unit, courtyard and parking space are for the exclusive use of guests - no shared facilities We are quite happy to meet with guests or just be available on the phone for any queries. We do not live on site but can be there quickly if needed and know the area well so are very happy to assist or advise our guests as they require. New Norfolk is the last major township before the world class trails of Maydena Bike Park. The unit has a paved yard with a small shed, external water supply and hose pipe which provides a suitable area for cleaning and sorting out bikes. It is five minutes walk to the award winning Agrarian Kitchen restaurant and a variety of other eating venues including pubs, cafes, a Chinese restaurant and a number of fish and chip shops and takeaways. There are a number of scenic walks which can be accessed from the unit including a walk along the rivulet to the riverside walks where you can take a refreshing swim in the river on a hot summer day, or up into the green hills,of nearby Lachlan. Tynwald Park is approx 10 minutes walk and houses children's playgrounds, barbecue areas, playing fields and outdoor exercise equipment. For boating and fishing enthusiasts, the nearest river boat ramp is approx. 5 minutes drive from the unit. The town centre of new Norfolk is famous for its many antique shops, bric-à-brac centres, cafes and quirky little shops - all within five minutes walk of the unit. The wonderful Museum of New and Modern Art - MONA - is about 15 minutes drive from New Norfolk and another 15 minutes on will find yourself in the city centre of Hobart, with Mt Wellington, Salamanca, the Wharf, the Museums and all the attractions that this picturesque city has. Any direction out of Hobart will lead you to amazing long sandy beaches and little bays as well as scenic drives through rolling hills or you can choose from many wine tours that meander through the wine regions past many popular vineyards. If you head north from New Norfolk you will drive past many hop and fruit farms before quickly entering the ancient forests, lakes Anne wilderness areas of Central Tasmania. Boating and fly fishing are very popular in the Central; Highlands with a large number of lakes and rivers to choose from. It is possible to book guides and adventure tours to provide guided access to some of the more unusual areas and the activities they offer but there are also many bush walks and trails which support the more adventurous in accessing these areas themselves. Please remember that the Tasmanian Wilderness can be forbidding and dangerous to those not well prepared due to sudden weather changes and potentially harsh conditions. Make sure your trips are well planned and that you are well equipped if being more adventurous and always sign yourself in and out from the more challenging bush walk in the record books provided at the beginnings of the walks. We are sure you will have a fantastic time in Tasmania and hope that you will find our little unit comfortable and relaxing as you explore the area.U A bus service runs from around the corner from the unit to Hobart city and back several times a day. There is a local taxi service and a number of tourist operators will pick up from New Norfolk to visit the forests and lakes and Mountfield National Park. Details would be available from Tasmanian Tourist Information Services at either Service Tasmania sites or Tasmanian Travel and Information Centres on their website.
