A comfortable home away from home that we rent out preferably for full weeks at a time, Saturday to Saturday. However, we review all booking requests we receive and will always accommodate if we can. Located in Higher Clovelly, a picturesque North Devon village situated just off the Atlantic Highway (A39) the property gives easy access to both the North Devon and North Cornwall coastline and all it has to offer. The Exmoor and Dartmoor national parks are also easily accessible. The property consists of 2 large double rooms with king-size beds and 1 single room with a comfortable sofa-bed which at a push could sleep two, fresh clean linen and towels are provided. The single room also has a home office setup so if you need to work while travelling you can do so comfortably. A newly refurbished bathroom, separate dining and living rooms and a fully equipped kitchen make up the rest of the house. There is a large rear garden with stunning views of Lundy Island, Bideford Bay and the Bristol Channel, on a clear day you can see the South Wales coastline. The garden is ideal for watching the sun set and the all-important summer BBQ. Should you want a movie night in or need to entertain the children while you prepare the BBQ there is a Vodafone 60Mbps WiFi connection and 55” Sony Smart TV with Netflix and Sky Sports. There is ample parking outside the property (1 allocated space) and a lockable shed to store bikes, surf boards and so on. So if you want to walk the coast path, cycle the country lanes, relax on the beach, maybe take up surfing, sample the local food and ale and much more then this is the ideal spot for you. Guest have the house to themselves. Key collection is via a key safe on the property. You will deal directly with the owner who is always available on the phone, email or text to answer any queries and assist in anyway. Higher Clovelly is situated just off the Atlantic Highway (A39), a road which runs through the heart of the North Devon and the North Cornish coastline. The picturesque cobbled village of Clovelly is approximately 20 minutes on foot and there is plenty more to explore in the local area including Clovelly Court and Gardens, Mouth Mill, Black Church Rock, Brownsham, The Hartland Peninsula and Bucks Mills to highlight just a few options. If you jump in the car and turn left onto the Atlantic Highway at Clovelly Cross you will be heading towards Westward Ho!, Appledore, Instow, The Tarka Trail and onwards to Barnstaple, Braunton, Saunton Sands Croyde, Woolacome and everything Exmoor has to offer. If you turn right at Clovelly Cross you will be heading towards Welcome Mouth, Morwenstowe Sandy Mouth, Bude and Tintagel. A bit further down the coast you will find Port Issac, Padstow, Newquay and St Ives and if you’re up for it Lands End. Right at Clovelly Cross also takes you in the general direction of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor. The nearest supermarkets can be found in Bideford where you have the usual suspects ASDA, Aldi, Lidl and Morrsions, there is also a Morrisons in Bude if you coming from the direction of Cornwall. Clovelly has two pubs The New Inn which is located halfway down the cobbled street and The Red Lion which is located on the harbour. Both the New Inn and the Red Lion offer restaurant or bar food. Clovelly Social Club and Parish Hall is a 5-minute walk and is attached to a large playing field, the views on from the bar on a summers evening are amazing. There are regular events throughout the summer, a pool table, dart board and to top it off cheap drinks and visitors are always welcome. Opening times are usually from 19:30 Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun opens lunch time. In the nearby villages of Woolsery and Hartland you will find a selection of pubs offering locally produced food, fish and chip shops and smaller local shops. We will happily provide more detailed local information, tips and recommendations on request. Given the rural location a car is essential as there is limited access to public transport and what is available is not frequent. Stagecoach operate a bus service, route 319 between Bude, Hartland and Barnstaple with connecting services are available from Bude and Barnstaple. Please note the 319 is not a frequent service, is not direct, is goes around the houses or in this case villages. The nearest train station is Barnstaple which connects to Exeter St Davids and takes about 1hr 20 minutes. It’s a really nice journey through the country side, ideal for day out. Taxis are available but given the location are expensive. Unless you are on a walking or cycling tour a car is essential. Local shops can be found in the villages of Woolsery and Hartland. The nearest supermarket are to be found in Bideford or Bude.
