Casa Fucina in Corsagna, Borgo a Mozzano, Lucca
The place to visit if you want to see the real Italy. This completely restored house fronts onto a small square in a typical medieval mountain village, with magnificent views over the mountains. An ideal base to visit Lucca, Pisa, Florence etc. The house has been completely refurbished. It is arranged over four floors, with four bedrooms and two shower rooms over the two upper floors, a reading room on the ground floor and a kitchen / dining / living space on the whole of the lower floor. The rear of the house, including all the bedrooms have clear views over the magnificent mountains. There are two double bedrooms, one bedroom with bunkbeds and one single bedroom with an additional folding bed, sleeping 8 people in total. The kitchen is complete with everything you need to cook full meals - crockery, pots, pans, kettle, toaster, microwave, gas oven and hob. There is a large free public car park in the village, the house is then a short walk uphill. Guests have access to the whole house except for a small store room. We can be contacted in England, but in Corsagna we have a lovely Italian lady, Gabriella who with her daughters, look after the house for us. Gabriella speaks good English. The house will be cleaned before you arrive and a welcome pack left in the fridge, bedding can be changed if you are staying over a week. Gabriella will also be happy to deal with any questions, referring back to us as necessary. Corsagna has a Bar / Restaurant which serves delicious pizzas at the weekend, a few mini markets and a hairdressers. It is an interesting village that is well worth a walk around. At the bottom of the mountain in one direction, is Borgo A Mozzana (5-10 mins drive) a good sized town, with a number of shops including Penny's Supermarket. It also has a very good public open air swimming pool. In the other direction is Bagni Di Lucca, a spa town with some lovely restaurants, and another lido. There are countless other villages to explore. There is a railway station in Borgo A Mozzano, which connects to Lucca, Pisa and Florence, and is good for day trips, but you will need a car. It is 50-60 minutes drive from Pisa airport, and a similar distance to the Italian Riveria at Viareggio or Lido to Camaiore, approx 25mins to Lucca, 45mins to Abetone (ski resort) 1hr 15-30 mins to Florence. Countless other towns like Barga, Livorno, Pistoia, all in easy reach. It is a marvellous base. The village is typically hilly, so is not suitable for wheelchair users, or if you have particular mobility problems.
