Beanhill is flanked to the east by the mighty Severn. At 220 miles it is Britain’s longest river and it is famous for the unique bore that run during certain tides. There is a limestone plateau that rises from behind the farm to the north, eventually topping at 800 feet above sea level. To the west is the beautiful winding Wye Valley, the whole area is covered by woodlands, forests and beautiful countryside. Expect to see, at varying times of the year, carpets of bluebells, rolling fields of bright yellow rape seed and the stunning canopy of ancient forest. Wildlife is prolific, deer and boar run freely in the woodland of the Forest of Dean, you may also glimpse Kingfishers, Goshawks, Peregrines or Red Kites. To the south west lies the Welsh border marked by the River Wye as it joins the Severn. As you cross the River Severn Chepstow will mark this border. Other towns close by include Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye. Smaller villages include Brockweir, St Briavels and Lydney. Further afield are Bristol, Gloucester and Cardiff.
