Greta Cottage is a quaint, stone built, end terrace cottage situated overlooking a wooded open land alongside the River Greta. It is located on the edge of the charming village of Burton-in-Lonsdale. There are many walks from the cottage across fields, through woods and along the peaceful River Greta. It is in perfect striking distance for walking and exploring the Dales and Lake District. Ingleton, Kirkby Lonsdale and Settle are all within easy reach. The Three Peaks challenge is nearby. Fully renovated , this pretty cottage offers an ideal base for couples and friends to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and discover this wonderful area. It is private and self contained. With the river on its doorstep, it is also perfect for those not wanting to travel far afield but still enjoy the outdoors. This delightful cottage offers a cosy sitting room with dining area, overlooking the trees and fields. It has a TV with all channels and Wi-Fi access. The kitchen is fully equipped and provides all you need to cater for yourselves, including a fridge/freezer so you can be fully stocked up and a gas hob and full-sized electric oven. There is a 4 slot toaster and microwave. Alexa is in here to help you plan your day, hear the weather or simply to sing along to. Tea, coffee and a small milk are provided. A staircase leads to a bright double bedroom which again overlooks the peaceful river. There is a newly fitted, modern bathroom with a bath and over bath shower. Towels are provided. Outside, there is a small patio area to sit out and enjoy dining listening to the bubbling of the river, and evening bird song. On drive parking is available for one car. The Village is a small village that has a community run village shop with post office and a dog friendly pub with beer garden. All essentials and local specialities can be found in the shop. Bar meals and takeaways are served in the pub. Ingleton and Bentham are both 2 miles away with larger supermarkets and various takeaways. The village has a grassed football pitch and measured walking circuit where you will find a small communal park run in the spring and summer months. There is a newly installed range of adult outdoor fitness equipment with impressive views of Ingleborough. For tennis enthusiasts, there is an all-weather court shared with football and tennis. Alongside the river, there is a newly planted orchard area with communal picnic seating and outdoor BBQ area. Burton-in-Lonsdale is 25 minutes from the M6 motorway. It is situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and has easy access to the Lake District. It is located in an area perfect for outdoor enthusiasts; mountain biking, caving, walking, gill scrambling, canoeing are all available in abundance. The challenging Three Yorkshire Peaks are all on the doorstep to complete in under 24 hours or at a more sedate weekend pace. The highly rated Ingleton Waterfalls walk is a 7-minute drive away. The show caves at Clapham and White Scar are both local. The scenic Settle-Carlisle Railway can be boarded at nearby Clapham and Ribblehead, travelling directly over the impressive viaduct. Bentham, Kirkby Lonsdale and Casterton all boast scenic golf courses. The small characterful market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is close by. Here you will find independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. The larger market towns of Kendal and Settle are a little further a field but both well worth a visit. This is a lovely cottage set in a place with lots to do and see but equally set up for a restful stay. Parking is available on site. A local bus service runs through the village.
