Angel Cottage
17th Century Thatched cottage in the heart of historic village Angel Cottage is a 17th Century Grade ll listed thatched cottage. It was built around 1635 on the corner of an ancient crossroads in the village of Stogursey, Somerset. From its off street parking bay you cross the courtyard to the back door and step straight into the well equipped kitchen. Through the next door you’ll find the living/dining room, featuring an Inglenook fireplace, slate flooring and plenty of seating with a dining table and chairs. A television with Netflix and free WiFi. Downstairs also has a modern bathroom with power shower, toilet and hand basin. Go up the winding staircase and you will find two separate bedrooms both with ample storage. The main bedroom has a double bed. The second has a triple bunk ( double on bottom, single on top ). So perfect for adults and children. ******************************************************************************** Please be aware of the spiral staircase. Due to the cottage being very old, they are quite steep and narrow. ******************************************************************************* The village has lots of nearby cosy pubs. Greyhound Inn which is under new management is the closest but please check opening times and availability . With a convenience store and Post Office/Spar only a few yards away you won’t be short of supplies. Stogursey also boasts an 11th century church, castle ruins and a natural well. There is plenty of cycling, walking and wildlife in the surrounding countryside. As well as that why not go exploring in the Quantock and Mendip Hills or Exmoor National Park. With the beaches of Minehead, Weston-Super-Mare and the jurassic beach of Kilve. The quaint harbour town of Watchet where you can jump aboard a Steam Train are all a short drive away, Fishing, Golf and Horse Riding are all nearby too. The cottage also has a patio and private garden for them purely relaxing days ************************************************************************************** Children are very welcome and there is always a few old fashioned games in the cupboard. Netflix has a children’s section but the other is set to over 18. It is worth pointing out though that the house is old, around 386 years. There are bunk beds in one room but it’s up to you if you let the kids sleep in the top. The bathroom is down stairs. That being said kids have stayed before and loved it. There is a winding stars which some small children and some adults my need help with. ************************************************************************************** Guest access There is a small patio area outside the back door with table and chairs. You can smoke here but please no bbq. The garden is at the rear behind your car space. It is marked no 8. It is grassed with a picnic bench. If you have a bbq this is the place to have it. You’ll also find a clothes line here. Bicycles are welcome and secure parking in a timber shed can be arranged free of charge but let us know in advance. Other things to note Please be considerate as there are other holiday cottage as well as permanent residents. There is a small patio area outside the back door with table and chairs. You’ll also find a clothes line here. Key box entry. There is a mobile number In the kitchen window if you need to talk to us. Any info or help you need please call or text. There is a Ring doorbell on the back door but unfortunately it’s not monitored while guests are staying. Quite village with a post office, corner shop/off licence and village pub. Car would be best as the bus service is limited. Very popular for cycling and walkers. Please be considerate as there are other holiday cottage as well as permanent residents. There are cameras on the outside of the buildings only but are only used if there are problems. They are not monitored.
