Gull Cottage, lovingly refurbished in 2017 by the owners to a modern, yet cosy and relaxed, home from home. The cottage sleeps up to 4 people + baby in two bedrooms and is served by two bathrooms. The lounge is a comfy space to unwind after a busy day and the log burner ensures you'll be snug whatever the season...starter pack of logs provided. The fully equipped kitchen provides a spacious area to cook, eat and drink with seating for six. There is a good selection of toys, books, games and dvds. Outside there is an enclosed flowered patio with seating. Roadside parking. Free WIFI, Netflix and Alexa music/information included. Portknockie is one of a line of traditional fishing villages along the north coast of Moray. From the cliffs that drop down to the shore and harbour below you can look across to the rocky bluff of Green Castle, once a Pictish stronghold, which naturally shelters the harbour. Above the harbour is the oldest part of the village with narrow wynds and small fisher-folk cottages. The village is well served with a hotel (serves meals and is dog friendly), bar, chemist, post office and shop, hairdressers, cafe and an excellent fish and chip shop. Portknockie also has an open air paddling pool at the harbour, outdoor bowling green, a play park and tennis courts. There are walking and cycling paths with spectacular views over the Moray Firth and if your lucky sightings of passing bottle-nose dolphins. Visit the Bow Fiddle Rock, a natural arch formed by the waves which provides a natural roosting spot for gulls and cormorants. Gull Cottage is a 5 min walk from all the above amenities. The Moray coast is festooned with golf courses with Cullen Golf Club a mere 5 min drive away. Gull Cottage is also an ideal base for exploring further afield with easy access to the beautiful beaches of Lossiemouth and Nairn or the Malt Whiskey Trail in glorious Speyside, Inverness, Aviemore and the Cairngorms National Park are all within a two hour drive through stunning scenery. Whole house and private patio area We don't usually meet or guests but we can always be contacted by phone or email. Entry is by keysafe. Portknockie is a quiet, relaxing fishing village. Friendly locals. Many lovely beaches nearby and excellent walks along the Moray coast. Great for dolphin spotting. Within the village we have an award winning Fish and Chip shop, Hotel, Pub, Post Office/grocery shop, Cafe, Chemist, Hairdressers and a Garage. Portknockie also has a small outdoor children's paddling pool in the harbour, children's playground, tennis courts and outdoor bowling. Local buses stop close to cottage.
