The Annexe
The Rockery is a gorgeous self contained annexe in the centre of Ilminster, with off street parking and private entrance. Huge rain head shower and roof lights give a real wow factor! Fantastic comfortable base for exploring the West Country! The annexe has recently been renovated, and includes a huge rain head shower in the bathroom, kitchenette area including kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge and Belfast sink. We provide a lovely continental breakfast; if you would prefer a cooked breakfast there is a lovely option at the end of the road (1 minute walk) - the Retreat ((website hidden)) open daily. There is a comfortable armchair and sofa with flat screen tv (freeview) in the living room. The bedroom is lovely and light with a comfortable double bed and ample hanging space for your gladrags. We also have a supply of books and board games to keep you entertained on a rainy day! There is no garden access, but you are in the centre of Ilminster, seconds away from places to eat, shop, playground, walks, etc. You have your own front door to come and go as you please. We live and work in the main house so are available for your assistance and queries, but if you wish to remain totally private you have your own front door and everything you need for a comfortable stay! Ilminster is a vibrant small market town (market is on Thursdays), conveniently located to explore the jurassic coastline (stretching from West Dorset to East Devon), many national trust properties (Barrington Court of "Wolf Hall" fame and Montecute House are both very close by), and the beautiful scenery of the Somerset Levels. Being in the centre of Ilminster means you can wander down the road to your choice of restaurant, plus there are many wonderful gastropubs a short drive away (Katie and Simon can give you recommendations and their favourites!) Ilminster is also a fantastic location if you are on your way further west to Devon or Cornwall, being just off the A303 or M5. Ilminster has several local bus services, nearest train stations are Crewkerne and Taunton. The A303 is the main access road from London, and the M5 is 15 minutes drive (Taunton exit). 40 minutes drive will take you to the Jurassic Coast - Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Beer, West Bay, Chesil Beach... Several National Trust properties are within easy reach, Off street parking right next to the annexe makes your stay nice and easy! It is all ground floor and no steps to get inside or once you are in, so if you have limited mobility it is perfect. As an added bonus we can offer massage (sports and deep tissue) and reformer pilates on site, please contact us for more details before confirming your stay.
