La Vecchia Posta is a stately building of 1920, of five floors located in the historic center of Calangianus, at the foot of Mount Limbara, in the heart of Gallura. It once housed the first post office in the country. Hence the name La Vecchia Posta. The B & B has been renovated mainly using the material protagonist of our territory: cork The idea of transforming the building int (Website hidden by Airbnb) was born a few years ago, with the intention of offering travelers the opportunity to learn about our territory in its entirety from the sea to the mountains, through the discovery of breathtaking landscapes and historical sites. Guests can have access to the common room, which is also a relaxation area but can not use the kitchen. I can always be there for my guests, point out routes to explore, restaurants to visit, and offer everything they need. Calangianus, a municipality of about 4000 inhabitants, stands on a granite plateau at 518 meters above sea level, at the foot of Mount Limbara, whose peak reaches 1,350 meters. Surrounded by the typical cork trees of Gallura, Calangianus is known for the traditional art of processing this precious natural product, earning the definition of "Capital of Cork". It has also been counted among the hundred richest and most productive municipalities in Italy. Geographically it enjoys a strategic position, both for the nature that surrounds it, with a territory still uncontaminated, where you can breathe pure air, and for the proximity to major countries in the north-east of the island. The nature offers a wide range of berries and undergrowth to be tasted directly from the plants. One of the most common berries is that of Myrtle, from the processing of which is obtained the famous liqueur unique in the world, Myrtle. There are also many qualities of fine mushrooms. There are many mycologists and enthusiasts, who stay for days in the period from late August to November. Not to be forgotten are the vineyards, where famous products and excellent wines, both white and red, are produced. At 2 km we find Luras, famous for its sweets, where we can also visit the Galluras Museum; at 6 km, Nuchis, a small ancient village, with its houses made of granite and the countless churches, which start from the Romanesque period; 8 km away we find Tempio Pausania, a town centre of about 15 thousand inhabitants, called the "stone town", with its very old historical centre, the ancient seat of the Templars; 15 km away we find the Borgo Autentico di Aggius, famous for its carpet weaving, one of the many flagships of Gallura. Just 30 minutes from Calangianus is the city of Olbia, the nerve center of north-east Sardinia with airport, port and railway station. From here in 5 minutes you find yourself catapulted into the fantastic beaches of our coast and traveling a few more kilometers, you reach the most famous Costa Smeralda. The passage from the mountain to the sea is almost imperceptible given the beauty of the scenic roads to travel to get there. Breakfast is composed of a rich buffet of local products at km 0, produced by the producer at our table.
