Large traditional home near Bled & the Alps

Anvil Cottage is a beautiful traditional town-house in the heart of the historic town of Kropa. The house has been completely modernised and offers a large, comfortable and flexible base for families and groups visiting Slovenia and the area around Lake Bled and the Julian Alps. During your stay you can use the large open fire, freshen-up in our large walk-in shower or relax in the sun on one of our three large terraces. With two fully-equipped kitchens and ample seating, group dinners are easy and enjoyable. The house is perfect for relaxing weekend getaways, a family holiday, or groups of cyclists who are passing through the area. In the winter, it's an excellent base for skiing trips to the region and hiking is available all year round - simply exit the house and walk up the mountains. Nestled in a valley 15 minutes from Lake Bled, Kropa has a proud history as a centre of Iron production and its most charming buildings date from that period. The town has a small supermarket, a museum and three places to eat and drink. Kropa also offers easy access to the Alps, the lakes (Bled and Bohinj) but without the high prices and all the tourists. You will have access to the whole house, including three large balconies with views overlooking the river and church. I'm available by email or telephone for any questions you have during your stay, but Kropa is also a friendly place and the locals will be happy to help you if you need anything. Kropa is a small, quiet town but it has a local shop, restaurant and two pubs. There's also a wonderful town museum which is open all year long (but closed on Mondays) and an outdoor swimming pool that's open in the summer. It's easiest by car (or bike) but there's also a public bus stop at the local shop, 5 minutes from the house. The house covers 4 levels, so there are a lot of steps. Access to the sleeping platform in the loft area is platform is via a step-ladder.
