The Locke Inn - at the heart of historic Oundle.
This versatile renovated barn is self contained and adjacent to our Victorian home. Modern well equipped kitchen, spacious living room with additional double sofa bed if required. Free WiFi. Large open plan bedroom upstairs with double bed and two single beds available. Large bathroom/ wet room. You are right in the centre of historic market town of Oundle and a few metres away from beautiful walks along the River Nene. Oundle offers an array of shops, pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. The Locke Inn is full of character and is a lovely modern space integrated with our family home. With direct street access; downstairs is practical and cosy and upstairs is a wonderful open plan light space. A versatile property suitable for couples, friends or families. Easy walking distance town and on street parking. Owner lives in main property and is looking forward to welcoming you. We will try to be available throughout your stay and will happily share our local knowledge with you. There is lots to do and see in this beautiful rural area. We do have three children aged 11-15 who live at property and will be using garden and courtyard which are overlooked by the accommodation. The beauty of The Locke Inn is that we are right in the centre of one of the prettiest towns in Northamptonshire. Oundle is steeped with charm and history. It is also home to the independent school sharing the same name. Also just a few metres away is the River Nene and access to the stunning countryside whether you like walking, paddling or canoeing - this beautiful area is worth exploring. The surrounding villages are charming and offer some wonderful pubs. The Locke Inn is right at the centre of Oundle so once you are here you can park up (free road parking) and explore on foot. A car is useful if you want to explore the surrounding villages and areas. Stamford and Burleigh (16 miles) and Rutland Water (26 miles) are easily accessible and well worth a visit with plenty on offer in terms of shopping, outdoor activities, historic sites and special events. Nearest train stations are Kettering (19 miles) and Peterborough (14 miles). Regular trains from St Pancras in under an hour. The sleeping area is open plan so double bed and single beds are in same space with a shelving unit as a divide. The accommodation used to be offices and some of the ceiling lights are the only remaining evidence of this. We plan to change them but in the meantime there are plenty of lamps to ensure there is a cosy feel; and as a result the ceiling lights not required.
