Hill House Cottage

Located close to the centre of Templecombe Village, Hill House Cottage is a charming, self-contained wing of a Grade II listed early 18th century house. The property has been renovated to a high standard with exposed stonework, flagstone floors, and a lovely wood burning stove in the sitting room, creating a very special holiday accommodation. The cottage is within walking distance of a local cafe/ cake shop, convenience store, fish and chip shop and the nearest pub is less than 1 mile away. This cosy cottage is an ideal retreat for those seeking a getaway in the countryside and is the perfect touring base for the many attractions nearby. We are only a short drive (within 30 minutes) from historic local towns of interest such as; Wincanton, Sherborne, Glastonbury, Bruton and Shaftesbury. A little further (45 minutes) and you can visit; Bath, Frome, Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge or the stunning Jurassic Coast. Our cottage has been lovingly renovated and furnished to an extremely high standard, cleverly combining lots of original character with contemporary convenience. Modern facilities include; Wi-Fi with high speed broadband, Smart TV with Freeview, Netflix and Catch-up TV. The Living Space has: >Bedroom 1; with king-size bed, built in wardrobes, dressing table, fluffy towels and crisp cotton bed linen. > Bedroom 2; with king-size bed that can split into 2 x single beds (we will configure to suit your requirements), large wardrobe, dressing table, fluffy towels and crisp cotton bed linen. > Family Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC and underfloor heating. > Spacious Sitting Room; furnished with 2 x two seater sofas, coffee table, dedicated workspace and feature fireplace with log burner. Patio doors lead to... >Small enclosed decking area to the side of the property with garden table and 4 x chairs. > Kitchen includes; electric hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a dining area with table and 4 x chairs in the kitchen. >Central heating throughout property >Smart TV, DVD Player, CD Player with radio, selection of books, games and DVD's >Travel cot and highchair available on request. >One well-behaved dog or pet is always welcome. Check-in is at 4pm and Check-out is at 10am (later on Sundays by request) We have fitted a Key Safe so that you can have contactless Check-in ( a code will be be sent to you 24 hours before arrival). There is a gravel driveway with a dedicated area for parking one car but we can accommodate two cars if needed. We hope that you will find everything as you expected to make your stay special. However, we do only live in the main house next door and if you need anything we are always available. Templecombe is a lovely village in the Heart of the Blackmore Vale, where Somerset joins North Dorset and is surrounded by idyllic countryside. In the village, there is a fantastic fish and chip shop, a cafe and cake shop as well as a Co-Op Convenience store. The Half Moon pub is in the nearby village of Horsington (1 mile), they serve traditional pub food and a have a great selection of local beers. If you are keen to walk and explore the countryside, there are many interesting walks to undertake from the village to keep you active. We are very fortunate to have a train station in Templecombe (London Waterloo- Exeter Line) which is just a few minutes walk from the cottage. With regular trains and easy access to Sherborne 8min, Salisbury 35min, Exeter 60min, London 90min so you could leave the car and explore the area by rail. The property is adjacent to a road so children and pets should be supervised when outside.
