Dormouse House in Slovenia

The Dormouse house is an authentic, 230 year old farmhouse, which we kept in the original state. When you enter the house, it feels like going back in time. The house is situated in a quiet village and the one metre thick walls from natural stone block out any sounds. Here, you can be sure that your sleep will not be disturbed. To the house, we added electricity (so there are both electric lights and an electric heating panel), an internet connection and a bathroom with a shower. Apart from these, we like to keep the house as much as possible in its original state. It is also designated as a monument. We live just 10 km away in a nearby village and can always be reached by phone. The Dormouse house is situated right next to the intermittent Lake Cerknica. Intermittent means that sometimes there is water, and sometimes the lake is dry. The lake is a wetland area of international importance, famous for its flora and fauna. The surrounding hills are covered with dense forests. In the wider surroundings, you can visit caves and castles while the capital city Ljubljana lies on less than one-hour driving distance. We also organise custom guided nature tours throughout southern Slovenia, guests at our Dormouse house have a 15% discount on our day-tour prices. Several times daily there is a bus connection with the capital city Ljubljana, but frankly, a car is often needed to get around in the Slovenian countryside. Please note that Airbnb lists 1 bathroom as "1 bath". The Dormouse house does have a bathroom, but there is no bathtub in it. The bathroom contains a toilet and a shower. It is heated separately and it is accessible through the hallway.
