L'Alouette - a luxurious hideaway in rural France

One of two delightful cottages in a tranquil setting on our 60Ha working farm in rural Limousin, with its own secluded garden and a swimming pool (11m x 5.5m), exclusively for our guests' use. The interior is designed to provide everything that you could need for a relaxing, comfortable holiday with top quality amenities and fittings throughout. The farm is situated between Bellac and Le Dorat, two historic towns with a wide range of shops and restaurants. The City of Limoges is 40kms away. There is a large screen TV with French and English channels. A BluRay player and a Hi-Fi (CD, Bluetooth & radio) are also provided. We can provide maps of the local area and the chemins around La Ville du Bost. Heating is provided by a state-of-the-art woodburning stove, and wood is supplied free of charge. All the bedrooms are in the attic space, and there are low beams in the bedrooms and bathrooms. There is an outdoor dining space with table & chairs on a raised deck in the garden. We speak English and French. Although we will of course welcome you on arrival and be around the farm most of the time should you need us, our policy is very much to leave you to your own devices once you're settled in. We will however need to perform pool maintenance (check the water composition and change the filters) on a regular basis - and to water the plants in hot weather! We will however try to do these tasks at a time that will disturb you as little as possible, The Limousin is a marvellous rural idyll - "la vraie France profonde", perfect for walking holidays. Bicycle hire is locally available. The Monts du Blond dominate our local landscape, and there are rivers, chateaux and lakes everywhere. There are excellent river and lake fishing opportunites for the enthusiast. Only a short drive away are ancient towns such as Confolens and Montmorillon, the "City of Books". Great restaurants are everywhere. For the music enthusiasts, the famous Ferme de Villefavard concert hall is only a 20 minute drive, with world class performances. During the months of October and November, the annual migration of the Cranes from Finland to Spain is an amazing sight. They pass overhead in their thousands in massive and charmingly noisy "V" formations, making the return journey in February and March. There are buses and train stations at Bellac and Le Dorat, both of which are 6 kms away. Limoges airport is only 40kms, with Poitiers and Angouleme airports a little further afield. Bicycle hire can easily be arranged from a local supplier.
