Beautiful Dartmoor cottage, South Zeal, Devon

Relax at home away from home in this superbly equipped 3 double bedroom cottage that is dog friendly too! You will find a warm and welcoming space full of period features and charm. Situated in the historic Medieval village of South Zeal, Greensills is perfectly located for hiking, biking and horse riding, exploring the wild wonders of the local area and the coast of Devon and North Cornwall. This idyllic Dartmoor village has a shop and 2 renowned pubs both serving excellent food and ales. Greensills Cottage is perfect for a relaxing short break away or longer holiday (discounts for longer stays.) The cottage is extremely comfortable and well-equipped and offers a large open plan sitting room/dining room with a wood burner (there are logs, firelighters and kindling at the cottage to use if you would like, there is a small charge for this). There is a large collection of Dartmoor walking guide books and Ordnance Survey maps and a cupboard full of board games to enjoy. The open plan living space leads through into the well-equipped kitchen which includes a large Range Cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer. The utility room has the washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher and you will also find a downstairs cloakroom. On the first floor is the bathroom and two bedrooms with double beds. On the top floor is the main bedroom which has a Queen Size zip and link bed that can be made into two singles - please let me know if you would like this configuration. The back of the cottage is south facing which makes the courtyard garden a real suntrap and a great space for outdoor dining. The large detached garden is found by going through the back courtyard gate and directly up the path about a 20 seconds walk away. The detached nature of the garden is a product of the Medieval practice of distributing 'Burgages' to villagers which were strips of land to farm and this therefore makes South Zeal a Conservation area. The large south facing garden which has views onto the moors, is now fully fenced and is equipped with a large dining table and chairs, parasol, BBQ, a fire pit and rotary washing line. Dogs and Dartmoor tend to go together and your well-behaved dog is welcome to stay with you - please mention it at the time of booking. Dogs must be over one year old and please make sure that they respect the furniture and decor. There is a charge of £25 per pet to cover additional cleaning costs and this is donated to the Dog's Trust Charity: so far, £275 has been raised! Please note that dogs are only able to be downstairs and there is a stair gate to prevent upstairs doggy adventures! The village of South Zeal is well located on the northern side of Dartmoor, roughly 12 minutes from the A30. It is 25 minutes from Exeter. Outside the cottage, there is plenty of free parking on the street that runs through the village. Additionally, there is a village car park where you can make a donation to any parking time at your own discretion. The cottage is set in the beautiful Medieval village of South Zeal which is set within Dartmoor National Park. There is a village shop which has a great selection of food basics and more and it also has a Post Office and Tea Room within it. There are two cosy pubs within the village - The Oxenham Arms and The King's Arms - both serving absolutely delicious food and both having outdoor gardens to sit in. The cottage is dog friendly with a charge of £25 per dog to cover cleaning costs. The proceeds for doggie stays go to the Dog’s Trust Charity. So far, £275 has been raised!
