LANDSCAPE Our Fortified Farmhouse is a "unique" and is comfortable, but it is not suitable for those looking for a luxurious place. We wanted to keep as much as possible its "medieval" aspect. We also fought to preserve this place from building speculation. Here the view towards the unhappy Italian post-war landscape disorder was not too compromised. The few industrial sheds do not create a visual impact and are covered with green plants. This is why the view towards the landscape is kept enchanting and still today is very similar to the state in which it, in 1923c. At that time it was left in a perfect state of maintenance thanks to the historic contribution of men sent by the English Royals. In this part of the Amphitheater of Arcugnano capital, they donated to the community, after 50 years of becoming Italian, the construction of roads ("La Militare") and various maintenance works. It was also home to an English military hospital in the rear where those ambulances operated well described by one of their drivers. A writer who at that time was not yet very famous: Ernest Miller Hemingway. THE LAKES ON WHICH THE CASTLE LOOKS OUT It looks at a mysterious lake where our Fortified Masseria rises. It is famous for being the oldest in Northern Italy. THE REEMERSION OF THE PAST Many attempts were made to dig up this lake and then grow it producing wheat. But every year, for a short time, the lake reappears. ANOTHER STRANGE PHENOMENON And here its waters return so many objects that belonged to its glorious past. They resurface, often at different points from where the materials were located. In its former dock, before the abandonment of Napoleon, the Bucintoro dei Querini seems to have been buried and buried. (The Querini family is linked to the Greek god Quirino and subsequently to the "Quirinian Rites", to the Foundation of Rome and to the "Quirinale"). MUSIC AND SOUNDS Its bay was known to the musician and composer Richard Wagner and to the unhappily rewarded Mantegna scholar, prof. Henry Thode, husband of Daniela Wagner - von Bülow. THE LIBRARY AND THE CINETECA Musically, this place that has a unique acoustics in the world. contains the remains of a private library (Mioni -Papadopoli) In addition to it, curated by volunteers there is a film library donated by the Berlin-based composer and conductor Vicentino Giuseppe Becce. He was the ferryman of silent film, as well as the first actor of Richard Wagner, his film library collects many testimonies, images and descriptions on the presence of Arturo Tocanini, Aureliani Pertile etc. In the 90s it hosted a musical band in the Pforzheim -Vicenza Twinning. THE VIEW TO THE LAKE The Fortified Farm looks towards a terraced garden linked to 20 thousand Spartan supersti of the army of Prince Cleonomo. Part of them were won and subsequently enslaved. In the "Salto di Giulia" below, despite the damage caused by the earthquake of 1117, the large cave inside which part of them were cutodites is still visible.STORIA Nella fondazione di Roma questo luogo rappresentò il modello da cui è stata clonato il Gianicolo e villa Adriana.
