The Old Builders Yard, Rode
Affectionately known as 'The Old Builders Yard', our house is a second home and our escape from city life. Built in 2014, but surrounded by centuries old properties, it combines modern light and space in a rural and 'chocolate-box' location. Consisting of a large, open plan living, dining and kitchen space and three spacious bedrooms, we offer an ideal choice for families and friends to discover the local attractions by day and socialise at night. The house offers parking for 3 - 4 cars and is gated set back off the road. The road of the village are narrow so please be considerate. There is a step into the property, and stairs within making disabled access a factor but not insurmountable as there is plenty of space downstairs for an airbed if that is required. While there are only beds for 6 people, the rooms have space enough for an airbed or cot if needed, but request you contact us before booking if you need this. We welcome all guests. We are happy for guests to use the kitchen and its appliances, all living spaces and the garden. We would ask that you refrain from using the washing machine unless you are 100% confident in your ability to decipher it! We are happy to be flexible in our interactions with you. Our hosts live locally and if possible, can meet you when you arrive to let you in and walk you though the house and welcome you. But we understand some may prefer to be left in peace, for whom we have a detailed Home Guide which should cover everything. Contact details for our hosts will be within the Guide, and should be your first port of call in any situation. Rode is a small village in the 'Frome' District of Somerset. It is mentioned in the Doomsday book in 1201 so you can imagine how old the village is! We have a couple of great pubs easy to walk to, a post office / village shop which also has a little cafe, well worth a try for the cake alone. There are some wonderful country walks easily accessible from the house ranging from easy half hours to more tricky terrain taking a couple. Great for dog walkers. By car; we are we are approx. 25 mins drive from Bath city centre, 10 mins from Frome and 5 mins from Trowbridge. There are bus routes available but none that go from the centre of Rode itself. Local taxi services are available and the nearest train stations are Westbury and Frome. Just a note; we have an alarm system and external CCTV. We also have a 'hot-tap' which provides instant hot water (kitchen only). The TV system offers Freeview and a DVD player. You are welcome to use the wifi and sound systems.
