Some of the shops are built inside English Heritage Grade 1 listed buildings and stone crypts, dating back to medieval times. CHESTER Chester is our county town - we're very fortunate to have such a beautiful old city right on our doorstep. Youâll find beautiful tea rooms, pubs and bars, restaurants, and boutique shops, sitting alongside Roman, Tudor and Victorian buildings. We also have the unique undercover walkways known as Chester Rows, the original Roman walls around the city, which you can stroll freely around, the original Roman ampitheatre, beautiful eleventh century Chester Cathedral, and Grosvenor Park. If you want chance to dress up and have a flutter, youâll find horseracing events at the Roodee Racecourse throughout the spring, summer, and autumn months.
