Surrounded by water with 2 docks, the Manor House was built by John Cheever in 1835. Guests have direct water access and may use kayaks and a canoe to explore the 3 mile long salt pond or set out to explore Blue Hill Bay. The home is updated with a new kitchen and built ins that compliment the craftmanship of the era. The Blue Hill Peninsula was named an outdoor enthusiast's dream by National Geographic and is an hour from Acadia National Park, with easy access to Camden and Bangor as well. We spend our summers in the area so should be available during your stay. Blue Hill Falls is a small village about 3 miles south of Blue Hill village. It is unique in that it was the first landing spot in the area as the settlers recognized the hydro power potential offered by the reversing falls. A car is essential to stay here as there is no local public transportation. There is a calm road that offers a wonderful (3 mile) bike ride or walk into town, which avoids the highway. Visitors have arrived by sea plane or boat as well.
