Rowan Tree Retreat is a detached cottage with hot tub in Wye Valley AONB in Gloucestershire bordering Herefordshire & Monmouthshire. Walk from garden gate into Forest of Dean for many wonderful forest trails and down along the picturesque River Wye and return to the relaxing hot tub! Dog friendly pubs are within walking distance. A true Forest Retreat! Situated in a peaceful forest location yet easily accessible on the border with Wales and Herefordshire. Close to towns for shopping, Coleford 5 min drive, Monmouth 15 mins and Ross on Wye 20 mins Walk directly from the garden into the Forest of Dean & down to the river Wye. Walking distance of the famous Saracens Head. Two other closer dog friendly pubs walking distance the New Inn, Ross Road 10 mins & Dog & Muffler, Joyford Hill 25 mins walk. There are multiple forest walks and even a cafe/shop within 10/15 walk. The location offers multiple activities eg archery, adventure challenge, zip wire etc This is a fantastic location for pure relaxation or walking holiday or cycling & great for dogs or those wanting to enjoy nature & escape the hustle and bustle of normal life. The location is a paradise for bird watchers, nature lovers or dog walkers. If you’d like a relaxing therapy during your stay please contact (Email hidden by Airbnb) Exceptionally well equipped Sleeps 4 plus WiFi Smart Tv Cedar hot tub in private setting in garden surrounded by forest woods (see house rules) you need to bring your own towels for the hot tub or you can hire spa robes £12.50 per stay sizes S/M or L/XL Single storey. 2 bedrooms one with a super king bed and one with king size bed which can be split into 2 singles 1 travel cot available at extra charge £15 per stay Rowan Tree Retreat has a warm comfortable sitting room 2 large sofas and a smart Tv. Throughout is underfloor heating. The kitchen is well equipped & open plan to the dining area and sitting area with a high oak beamed ceiling. You can see list of what’s provided please note there is no freezer but one can be made available ON REQUEST with a minimum of 24 hours notice sost £10. Outside is a hedged private totally enclosed garden with a garden table and chairs, bbq and hot tub(private). The hot tub is surrounded by forest trees and clear starry skies. There is comfortable parking for 2 cars off road but can fit more. The garden uniquely has direct access into the forest walks. We’re happy for up to 2 well behaved dogs to stay but you MUST tell us and by booking you agree to dog rules. No other pets are allowed. Any queries please just ask. At Christmas we have a Christmas tree We have check in access with keypad but we’re not far should you need help. You can have the entire property and drive for your own parking Please do not invite other people to stay without prior approval There is a key safe and a key safe code will be sent the day before you arrive. We use the garage in the driveway and need 24/7 access but will rarely use if guests are in and if we do we will not disturb you. We are close by (most of the time) should you need us for emergencies but we have a keypad so you can access the property directly. . Within a 10/15 minute walk is our local pub and another just 10 mins further. A 5 min drive takes you to our local shop. A 15 min walk from the cottage takes you to a forest cafe/shop. Within 20 mins drive are most supermarkets Waitrose, M&S, Lidl, Aldi, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrison’s, Co-Op There is direct access into multiple beautiful forest walks from the cottage no need to drive anywhere. Beneath the cottage are direct walks to Symonds Yat Rock and to the river Wye and the beautiful Mailscot view walk amongst many other walks. There is direct access to cycling trails. At the river Wye enjoy canoeing , paddle boarding. There are multiple attractions for all ages; arts and crafts, birds of prey, bushcraft, canoeing, climbing, cycling, diving, fishing, flying, go Ape, horses and trekking, kayaking, paddle board, paintball and laser, shooting, walking and many historical sites within easy reach. There is something for everyone. Please do not invite any other people to stay during your time at the cottage unless you have been given prior authorisation. Do not use the sofas to sleep on, the leather cushions are zipped on to the sofa which must NEVER be removed, unfortunately guests have done this damaged the zip and it was very costly to sort so guests will be liable for this and other damage. It is a ground floor cottage so easy access There is no freezer but if its essential for your stay we can arrange one to be put in the holiday let at cost £10 for your stay, please enquire. If you’re planning on bringing dogs you must inform us at the time of booking and agree to dog rules. Strictly no other pets allowed. We only provide towels for inside. If you wish to use the hot tub please bring additional towels or you can hire the spa robes please let us know before your arrival. Hire charge per stay per spa robe is £12.50 sizes S/M or L/XL We have a garage in the driveway which we need access 24/7 we rarely access it but if we do we won’t disturb you. If maintenance needs to be carried out we may need access to outside the property We have a LPG tank that is filled up as needed and access to the garden is required. The windows are cleaned regularly so access is needed for this too.
