Unique stone and brick cottage , with many original features, converted into two flats. Hayloft is reached by a metal staircase to the rear of the cottage. Windows on both sides of the building ensure that the rooms are particularly bright and airy. The cottage benefits from solar energy & oil central heating ensures a cosy background. Set alongside the Shropshire way, and overlooking farmland it makes an excellent base for touring and walking. Parking is close and basic wi-fi is provided. Hayloft is the upstairs flat of Cowslip Cottage. It is a fully furnished and equipped, level two bedroom flat, (full size single and double beds). A private shower room with electric power shower, and a large bright lounge/ dinner/ kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a full sized double oven with a 4 ring hob and also a microwave. All towels and bed linen supplied. Free WiFi subject to vagaries of provider . Free on site parking area. Single travellers very welcome, but sorry no children under 11 or infants upstairs. Entire first floor flat and outside seating area. Shared ground floor parking area close to the staircase. Hosts available on site and usually greet guests, but self check in can be arranged. Lorraine’s cottage is located in the tiny quiet hamlet of Wyke, Much Wenlock, Shropshire, United Kingdom. Situated in farmland and close to the world heritage site of Ironbridge and the historic market town of Much Wenlock, Cowslip Cottage is adjacent to the Vineyards Farm and is reached by a private unlit stone road heading downhill from Wyke and signposted 'The Vineyards Farm' & 'Cowslip Cottage'. Look out for wildlife along this track (which is part of the popular Shropshire Way long distance footpath), as fallow deer, hare, badgers, foxes, rabbits and squirrels abound! You may also see partridge, pheasants swallows and buzzards or a red Kite flying over the fields. The property is a brick and stone building converted into two self contained flats, Hayloft and the the generously proportioned ground floor garden flat. It benefits from solar energy, and central heating. Car parking is next to the building and the owners, Lorraine and Laurie live in the Farm next door. Free WiFi is provided, although the speeds and availability are subject to the internet provider, and reflect provision in rural Shropshire. Built in a rural setting alongside The Shropshire Way, the Cottage is surrounded by the glorious Shropshire countryside, there are endless footpaths to explore locally. It is a lovely country walk of approx 3.5 miles to Much Wenlock and there is also a woodland walk through Benthall Edge woods to the world famous Ironbridge. Locally the National Trust property of Benthall Hall is just across the fields. Alternatively all are less than 10 minutes drive by car. The Jack Mytton Way, a long distance bridleway is also within easy reach. There is also a nearby bridleway/cycle track from Benthall through the woods to Ironbridge where it joins the Mercian Way ( National Cycle Network Route 45). The County town of Shrewsbury can be reached in 20 minutes with the historic towns of Ludlow, Church Stretton, Wellington and Bridgnorth all within a 30 minute drive. The M54 and the new town of Telford, with its large indoor shopping centre, International Centre, restaurants, cinemas, ice rink, bowling and exceptional town park can be reached in about 20minutes. National Trust site Benthall Hall across the fields. Telford International Centre approximately 9 miles. Much Wenlock, Broseley and Ironbridge all within 3-4 miles. Nearest bus stop at Posenhall Farm, which is approximately one mile away. Buses run at two hourly intervals. Own transport highly recommended. Rural, quiet and private. Excellent touring base with many local footpaths. Woodland and country side walks to Ironbridge, Benthall, Broseley and Much Wenlock. plenty of wildlife and birds. Nearest shops/ supermarket 3-4 miles. Own transport recommended.
