Cedar Beach House on Lake Erie

Enjoy staying in a vintage beach house right across from Cedar Beach on Chadwick Bay. Tastefully decorated and fully appointed for your comfort and enjoyment! Follow the walking/ biking path across the street to visit historic, haunted Dunkirk Lighthouse or explore the 60+ acre Point Gratiot Park. See the glorious sunrise from the private second- floor deck and grill out back on the oversized deck. Relax. Sigh! Price includes all state and local taxes. "Rustic Victorian" beach house has an open, airy feeling with plenty of windows, gas fireplace, open floor plan, fully equipped kitchen, dining/ sunroom overlooking the layered bay. This is our cozy home most of the year, but We leave so it can be yours alone during your stay! Feel free to use ( or eat) anything in the house. Mid- century ( now closed) power plant adds interest as you watch boaters, beach- glass scavengers, wildlife and fireworks both near and far from the large upper deck off the master bedroom. The semi-private backyard has a large deck with gas grill, dining area and conversation area with lake view. Cedar Beach House is separate, though adjacent, to Cedar Beach Cottage, also listed in Airbnb, so you can book both locations for larger gatherings Enjoy swimming from the sandy beach in Point Gratiot Park or right across the street from dog- friendly Cedar Beach. Picnicking, walking, birding, a lighthouse tour, Fredonia Opera House productions, and several lakeside venues featuring live music on the weekends await you! SUNY ( State University of NY ) in Fredonia is just 3 miles away, with musical and theatrical performances and art shows throughout the school year. On Thursdays in the summer, the Dunkirk Pier hosts a lively street party with live music, fair food and wine slushees! Lily Dale Spiritualist community is just a 17 minute drive away. Chautauqua Institution is about 45 minutes’ drive. Jamestown boasts the new, highly- rated National Comedy center and the Lucy/ Desi Museum! The interactive exhibits give visitors opportunities to test their comedy knowledge, consider the use of props, create memes and cartoons, experience comedic masterpieces from film, TV and classic standup routines, view artifacts and experience the “ blue room,” and so much more! We will be nearby and available to guests if needed. Cedar Beach House is in an authentic Victorian summer vacation area, with a wide variety of older homes skirting the lake. In the past, the local trolley travelled right in front of the house! Now a convenient walking path follows the lake through Point Gratiot Park and downtown Dunkirk, and is perfect for a pleasant nature walk, jog, bike ride, picnic or dog -walking. The beach house is perfect for small social gatherings (no more than 15) and is absolutely not to be used as a party or event space without specific knowledge of and approval from me. Please respect the serenity of the neighborhood by keeping your outside noise level low, as the houses are close together. If the neighbors feel your group is too loud, I’ve asked them to text me, and I will contact you immediately. If they still feel there is unreasonable noise, I have directed them to call the police, who will then arrive to determine whether or not to intervene. Although the downtown area is within easy walking distance, cabs are available.
