Victorian room with view.
Single room in a beautiful Victorian home perched on a hill overlooking Kendal, on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Close to M6 & A6, and an ideal base to visit Windermere, Ullswater, Keswick, Penrith, Ambleside, and Carlisle. The space is a large single room at the top of the house, free high speed WiFi, kettle, cafetiere, and a selection of teas and coffees. Large shared bathroom with bath and shower. The house has a huge garden and a private one acre wood. Your space has spectacular views across the town and benefits from the early morning sun. The house is away from major roads and is very quiet, yet is only a ten minute walk from the centre of town. The garden is mostly used for growing fruit and veg, but there is some seating and a Weber barbecue which guests are welcome to use. An additional mattress is available on request. In addition to the room, you will also have access to the dining room. The kitchen is also available, as well as some fridge space (generally a shelf, but it depends on how many other guests are here). I am a writer of children's fantasy and scifi, so work from home. I will be available most of the time if needed. A cold breakfast is set up in the dining room for self-serve, along with home-made apple and sultana muffins. Please note that there are cats (two of whom were born on the backlot of Warner Bros studios in LA). It's really lovely here. The lane across the road leads straight into town past a park on one side, and some 17th century houses on the other. Kendal is a market town, with regular markets on Wednesday and Saturday featuring meat and produce from local farms, and fish from the nearby coast. It is also full of "yards," mysterious passageways between buildings that open out into places that seem frozen in a Dickensian past. Kendal has two railway stations and excellent public transport services to the Lakes and beyond. The roads to the Lakes frequently get very congested in the summer, so plan ahead if you are driving there. Or take the bus! Buses to Windermere and beyond stop right at the end of the road.
