I am only 2.5miles from Junction 32 (Coryton) M4 and even closer to the A470. Need a short break from the daily commute? OR travelling a long distance for a meeting? Get rested the night before in Taffs Well. I'm on a direct road/rail link into Cardiff Centre. The house is situated in a cul de sac with no passing traffic, double glazing and considerate neighbours; a good nights sleep is the norm around here. The room has a single bed and hygienically protected mattress. WIRELESS INTERNET PROVIDED FREE. The area has 4G mobile phone coverage on the O2 network. The bathroom is shared and there is a shower available. Laundry facilities are available; no tumble dryer but I can normally dry off clothing over night using a dehumidifier. I am happy to provide a simple breakfast of cereals/porridge/toast/tea/coffee at no extra cost. If you are happy to join me for other meals we can agree on cost as appropriate. I can advise you on a sightseeing itinerary, but you will need to be clear about your interests. I may be able to drive you to see specific sights, but you would have to contribute to fuel costs. Otherwise I am happy to leave you to your own plans. Taffs Well is a small village with a good grocery store and an atmospheric pub serving food and real ales. Nearby there is an entertainment park featuring some well known eateries as well as a multiplex cinema. There is parking for two cars on a hardstanding at the front of the house. Can accommodate a 'transit' type van. There is a commuter railway line which runs north to Merthyr and south to Cardiff Central; for all connections. this is a 'park and ride' railway station. Buses run regularly to Cardiff and north to Merthyr and Brecon Beacons. Attractions Great centre for history; Caerphilly Castle (2nd largest castle in Europe), National Museum of Wales at St Fagan's. Cardiff Bay; Dr Who Experience. Wales Millenium Centre. Outdoor Activities Mountain biking; Parc Afon near Neath/Port Talbot is a purpose designed mountain bike area with colour coded trails. The Forest of Dean is only 30 odd miles away for a great day out for walking or biking. Brecon Beacons; a great walking area with spectacular views, some challenging terrain or easier walks. I am happy to take you on guided walks in the Brecon Beacons. The Taff Trail runs within 50 yards of the house and offers a scenic walk into Cardiff (approx. 8 miles) or north all the way to Brecon (approx. 20 miles). Water Sports; Cardiff Bay boasts water sport activities organised by private companies as well as Cardiff Council. The Bristol Channel boasts the second highest tidal range in the World. So check on tide times if you wish enjoy a visit to the sea shore. I am a member of a local sailing club, so I may be able to offer some dinghy sailing; weather/tide dependant. The Wales Coast Path also offers beautiful walks. For cultural pursuits Cardiff (home of Welsh National Opera) is hard to beat with international standard performance venues plus Royal College of Music and Drama with their fantastic new performance spaces. The National Museum of Wales has several sites including St Fagin's where entire buildings of historic significance have been relocated from all over Wales to a purpose designed park. There is a major collection of French Impressionist art based in Cardiff at the National Museum. I am able to be contacted the majority of the time during your stay. I do not work at weekends. I am able to accompany guests on sightseeing trips, but this is not guaranteed and is dependent on my itinerary. The mix of the rural and the city. The convenience of being close to Cardiff. Stepping outside my front door to watch a buzzard being mobbed by crows, listening to a woodpecker in the woodland 100yrds from my garden, hearing the clip-clop of horses hooves along the Taff Trail. It would be entirely feasible to enjoy a walk in the Brecon Beacons in the morning, a sail on the Bristol Channel in the afternoon and enjoy a concert in the evening at the Wales Millennium Centre. Public transport is easily accessible by a 20 minute walk from the house. Off-road parking is available on a hard-standing at the front of the house (space for two vehicles). Cardiff city centre is 20mins away by train. Collection from the airport is possible by prior arrangement. Otherwise it's a bus/train ride into Cardiff, change and out to Taffs Well.
