La Verité

Get away from it all in "La France Profonde" - a rural hideaway for peace and tranquility in the delightful Charente. Well behaved pets are welcome. La Verité is an ancient cottage that has been renovated over the last decade. The accommodation is set out over the ground floor. It has a large open plan living room with a large bespoke kitchen area, dining area and comfortable seating in front of a fireplace complete with a wood burner. The kitchen has a bottled gas 4 ring cooker and oven, a fridge, dishwasher, counter top grill and plenty of crockery, glassware, cooking dishes, utensils and cutlery. There is a CD player and board games plus books detailing local walks and maps. There is one bedroom with a double bed, a utility room with a washing machine and freezer and a bathroom with a corner bath with shower over. There is a small garden at the front of the property and garden furniture and a barbecue are available. The garden is open to the road. There is parking to the rear of the property. The whole house and garden. We only let La Verité when we are in the UK. The next door neighbours keep the key. La Verité lies on the edge of a small village 10 minutes from Champagne Mouton, where there is a bar, bakery and small supermarket and petrol station. It is 20 minutes from La Rochefoucauld which has a large hypermarket, cafes and restaurants, a superb chocolaterie and beautiful chateau. It is only 45 minutes to Angouleme to the west or Limoges to the east. There are local lakes 20 minutes and 30 minutes away where you can swim, windsurf or just relax on the man-made beaches. The coast is approximately 2 hours to the west with a zoo at Royan or the ancient port of La Rochelle to explore. There is an open air swimming pool in the small village of St Claud 10 minutes to the south as well as restaurants, bakeries, a butcher's shop and a chemist. The region is famous for its aperitif, Pineau des Charentes and cognac. There are many small family run producers 30 minutes drive away to the west. We would recommend Jean Balluet in Neuvicq-le-Chateau. La Verité se trouve à la périphérie d'un petit village, à 10 minutes de Champagne Mouton, où se trouvent un bar, une boulangerie, un petit supermarché et une station-service. Il se trouve à 20 minutes de La Rochefoucauld, qui comprend un grand hypermarché, des cafés et restaurants, une superbe chocolaterie et un beau château. Il n’ya que 45 minutes d’Angoulême à l’ouest ou de Limoges à l’est. Il y a des lacs locaux à 20 minutes et 30 minutes où vous pourrez nager, faire de la planche à voile ou simplement vous détendre sur les plages artificielles. La côte est à environ 2 heures à l'ouest avec un zoo à Royan ou l'ancien port de La Rochelle à explorer. Il y a une piscine en plein air dans le petit village de St Claud, à 10 minutes au sud, ainsi que des restaurants, des boulangeries, une boucherie et une pharmacie. La région est réputée pour son apéritif, son pineau des charentes et son cognac. Il existe de nombreux producteurs familiaux à 30 minutes de route à l'ouest. Nous recommandons Jean Balluet à Neuvicq-le-Château. Car essential as there is not a local bus service. Voiture essentielle car il n'y a pas de service de bus local. The property has a septic tank so please do not put anything except toilet paper into the system. The property is let as a traditional gite which means that we do not provide bed linen or towels as part of the nightly price. However bed linen and towels are available to hire at 10 euros per hire. Please confirm when booking whether you wish to take advantage of this service. French and English style pillows, a bolster and a duvet are provided. La propriété dispose d'une fosse septique, veuillez donc ne rien mettre d'autre que du papier toilette dans le système. La propriété est louée comme un gîte traditionnel, ce qui signifie que nous ne fournissons pas les draps ni les serviettes dans le prix de la nuit. Toutefois, les draps et les serviettes sont disponibles à la location à 10 euros par location. Veuillez confirmer lors de la réservation si vous souhaitez profiter de ce service. Des oreillers de style français et anglais, un traversin et une couette sont fournis.
