Charming tranquil haven nestled at the foot of mountains in the valley of Ballyvaughan. 200 year old cottage lovingly restored situated on a working farm. Village can be reached on foot 15 min walk through natural walk way. Ideally located for local green road and loop walks. Wild Meadow Cottage is a charming 200 year old cottage. It is decorated in a beautiful and calming decor, with traditional artwork, cheerful colours and nice seasonal touches. The cottage centres around a traditional stove set within an original stone arch. We provide peat turf and a firelog for the stove and will gladly have the fire lit upon arrival if requested. This central room is the heart of the house, furnished with comfortable seating is the perfect place to cosy up for chats, to read a book or to enjoy a glass of wine or cup of tea. The house has been decorated with comfort, relaxation and beauty in mind. Fresh flowers and candles decorate the cottage. Window boxes adorn the deep stone windowsills when the season allows. I use essential oils and natural cleaning products in cleaning the bedrooms and living room. The house has a double bedroom and two single bedrooms, all beds have electric blankets, sumptuous mattress toppers and comfy bedding. The sofa bed is big enough for one adult or two children. There is a mattress topper for this also. Although this cottage is 200 years old, it has all modern conveniences hidden within sight. A cooker, microwave, washer and dryer, coffee pod machine, french press, hairdryer, iron, clothes airer, electric shower, oil central heating are all at hand. A stay at Wild Meadow Cottage really feels like a taste of old Ireland, without any of the hardship. It is situated on a working farm with lots of animals to appreciate. As the name denotes, it is situated beside a meadow, surrounded by wildlife. We have cows and calves, chickens and donkeys. Wild hares and foxes can often been seen from the cottage. There is comfortable outdoor seating, enough for 5, with a small table set looking out on the meadow and mountain behind it. A perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee or evening wine. Guests will have private access to the full house. An enclosed garden makes the property perfect for children. Ample car parking available. My husband and I are warm friendly people. We are available to talk with guests as it suits you. We live in the house up the road. Our neighborhood is very quiet. It is sheltered at the foot of hills. There are a handful of houses nearby. Our cottage is surrounded by wild hedgerows which house many birds, plus the swallows and swifts which nest nearby. The birdsong here is beautiful. There is plenty of wildlife, foxes, hares, pine martins, badgers, lizards etc. to catch a glimpse of. On clear nights the stars are amazing. We are in a perfect location to walk the many local walks and trails such as the Ballyvaughan wood loop and the Burren way. We can walk to Ballyvaughan village, 2km away, through a natural walk way through hazel and limestone. Many Burren flowers and plants can be found here. Ballyvaughan village is a quaint fishing village, with coffee shops, tea rooms, craft and food shops, restaurants and pubs with traditional music. There is a farmers market on Saturdays and craft market on Sundays. Distance to local attractions 850m from Burren college of art and Newtown castle with cafe and gallery. Easy to walk to on quiet road. 3km from Aillwee caves and birds of prey centre. 5km from nearest beach 8km from Poulnabrone dolmen, ancient burial tomb. 13 km from Fanore beach, beautiful expansive golden sand beach with surfing. Drive on amazing coast road to get there. 25km from the Burren national park, Corofin and Mullachmore mountain. 28km from cliffs of Moher There are local prebookable taxis. There are buses from the village. There is bicycle hire in the village. The village can be reached on foot.
