The lounge has a sofa bed and 2 futons, kitchen and renovated bathroom/laundry with wooden floors throughout. All the comforts of home including a/c, 2 huge LED TVs, linen and fully equipped kitchen. Just 5 min walk to QEH, direct bus route to the city and short drive from airport, beach and CBD. This heritage listed Firestation was built in the 1930's and spent over 50 years serving the community until the fire engines outgrew the building. The current residents bought it from the fire department and have lived here with their family until they grew and flew. They have renovated part of their residence in the firefighters quarters into self contained areas for your staying pleasure! Come and marvel at the heritage features and massive rooms, take a step back in time with original antique fire hydrant still operational onsite. The bedroom of this unit was previously used as the firefighters recreation room and is vast with soaring ceilings and the original fireplace still intact, it is nearly the size of 3 bedrooms in one and must be seen to be believed. The lounge was the firemens mess and is almost as large, the sheer size of this area is breath taking. This unit comes with reverse cycle air conditioning, washing machine, full kitchen with cooking utensils, large stainless steel fridge/freezer, desk, iron and hairdryer. The main bedroom features a queen bed and bunk beds (including a double on the bottom) and sitting area with tv, desk and leather couch while the lounge room contains 3 sofa beds which convert to double beds (most comfortable for 2 children sharing or smaller adults) for additional sleeping areas the unit includes many other features and creature comforts. Perfect for families with portacot provided as well as toys for kids of all ages. All linen and towels are provided, all you need bring is yourselves! The area has its own external access door at the rear of the building leading in to the entry hall. You have your own bathroom/laundry, kitchen/dining room, the lounge is a generous size and used to be the firemens mess room, the bedroom is huge and was the recreation room for the firemen, each has been tastfully furnished with a large Tv's featuring USB media playback in each and comfortable sitting and sleeping in both areas. Wi fi is available, access code available on request. There is a parking space at the rear of the building allocated to the unit. Guests are asked not to park in front of the roller doors at the rear. We live in the premises and share this rear parking area with our guests. Your friendly host Michelle lives nearby and knows all the best spots in and around Adelaide and is able to assist with anything you may need during your stay. Jill and Mike, the owners, live in the rest of the building. If you find an urgent issue requiring their attention they can be contacted by the bell on the rear gate. With almost every type of take away and cultural cuisine you can imagine within walking distance of your door, convenient dining awaits you at the Firestation! McDonalds, Barnacle Bills and Chickens Plus within a few doors of the property and Woodville road only a short walk which hosts the award winning Vietnamese restaurant NNQ and many more restaurants and take aways. For guests wishing to dine in the kitchen is well equipped, table seating for 8. A 7 day supermarket is 5 minutes walk from the door. There is a specialist asian wholesale grocers across the road opposite the building open to the public. We are only a short drive to the airport, city and beach, the Firestation is in the perfect location for your next holiday! A short 5 to 10 minute easy walk away is the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for guests requiring easy access. No parking fees. Bus stop located across the road with direct route to the City, Port Adelaide, West Lakes mall and Armada Arndale, both featuring all major shops and boutiques plus 2 large cinema complex (Reading cinema at West Lakes and Greater Union at Arndale). Bus comes approx every 10-15 mins. Woodville railway station is 10 minutes walk and is an express station to the city. Metro tickets are available at the IGA supermarket open 8am - 9pm 7 days just 5 minutes walk. Located a short walk from almost every cultural cuisine, with a direct bus route across the road to CBD and Port Adelaide. Buses run every 15 minutes. Other routes are just 5 mins walk allowing access throughout adelaide. The train station is 10 mins walk with express trains into the CBD. A short walk (10 minutes) to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for guests who are day patients or visiting relatives or friends from rural or interstate locations. As the unit is under the main roof of the building and we have vulnerable residents in other areas unfortunately it is not suitable for travellers needing to quarantine but we would love to welcome you after your quarantine is complete!
