The Sleeper Car is a private carriage house studio tucked in a quiet enclave in the heart of the Washington, NC Historic District. Mere steps from the beautiful Downtown Harbor District, you can easily visit the unique shops and restaurants. Take a stroll on the boardwalk or set a spell and gaze at the beautiful scenery, while swinging in one of the enchanting waterside swings at the nearby Washington waterfront. Also within walking distance is local dining and shopping as well as the Belle of Washington offering sailing cruises, dinner cruises or stunning sunset cruises. If you are arriving by boat you can dock at the free city docks and walk the short distance to The Sleeper Car. It is complete with a queen Murphy bed and futon sleeper couch, living area, kitchenette, and full bath with shower. The Sleeper Car’s convenient location puts you at the center of many outdoor activities too. You will be a short drive away from 7 wildlife refuges and several state parks. Rent a kayak and explore Castle Island or the back creeks with their cypress, Spanish moss, and the coastal wildlife, hike the trails of Goose Creek State Park, cycle the endless country roads or a bike a shorter jaunt exploring the city’s beautiful neighborhoods. Whether you are visiting for business, a nearby event or just to escape a hectic lifestyle, The Sleeper Car offers you convenience with all the amenities you need and an opportunity to experience the genteel southern way of life. Parking is free in front of the unit, along McNair Street. For those visiting by water, there is free and paid short-term docking at the Washington waterfront which is within walking distance. Please note that we do not offer breakfast for guest at this time.
