Some of the best views in Australia are to be had right here and you can enjoy them in privacy. Just bring along your clothes and your toothbrush and some food everything else is provided. Just do it mate! 200 good reviews can't be wrong. We have just reopened after two years after doing some upgrades. All our reviews relate to this property. Even though we are listed as a new listing we have been operating since 2013. We now have another yurt so there is more availability. Experience some of the best views in, Australia. The Yurt Alpine Retreat is situated in the Victorian High Country on a working farm surrounded by natural bushland perched on top of a mountain in the middle of a vineyard in one of Victorias' wine producing region. No neighbours to be seen. Run around in the nude if you are so inclined. The silence is golden. Within 20mins. fine restaurants and wineries. Beautiful and Unique cosy Yurt accommodation. It is great on a cold day sitting in the yurt by the wood stove looking out through the glass doors at the beautiful views. The Yurt is 6m diameter. There is an outdoor BBQ for cooking on and a small portable gas stove, or a small cast iron indoor stove which keeps it cosy in the cooler weather, there is also a small gas camp stove inside. After driving along a steep dirt track which winds through natural bushland teeming with kangaroos, wombats, rabbits and deer you will burst onto a plateau with amazing views of the King Valley. Fantastic scenic walks along our mountain ridge or through natural bushland. In the morning you will hear the sound of many birds including kookaburras, black cockatoos and beautiful King Parrots. You will often see the resident eagle hovering overhead. In the evening you can enjoy the "sounds of silence" while you sample some of the regions best wines. Towels and bedding provided and everything else you need apart from food. Gas heated shower and toilet with great views, all part of the glamping experience. The Yurt is cool in summer and warm in winter due to its thick lambswool felt underlay which encapsulates the yurt. At night you can see the stars through the glass dome in the roof. there are double doors one glass to see the fantastic views and the other beautifully painted wood. Plenty of space for outdoor parking. Public transport non existent out here. You might like to explore the many attractions i.e. many wineries, cheese factory, Paradise Falls, the Ned Kelly trail. Harry Power's lookout. There are some unique and fine dining wineries within a 20 min. drive of the Yurt. the nearest shopping centre is 40mins. away so you will need to stock up in Benalla or Wangaratta before you arrive. you will see fabulous 360 degree panoramic views of the King Valley if you take a walk along our mountain ridge. You can return for a glass of chilled local wine and just listen to the sounds of silence. If you want to experiment with bush cooking you can cook a camp stew in a cast iron pot. This will be a unique way for you to enjoy the Australian bush and glamping experience downunder. The yurt is a genuine Mongolian ger/yurt. Not for those wanting five star accommodation but for those wanting a unique glamping experience you will love it. We describe our property as Mongolian with an aussie twist. HIGHLIGHTS IN THE AREA INCLUDE: Wangaratta Festival of Jazz Nov. La Dolce Vita in the King Valley November 2014 Ales on Ovens - 7th Dec. SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR COME ON DOWN!!! The entire property. 345 Hectares Usually I take the guests up to the yurt and explain how everything works and leave them to it. The isolation, the fantastic views. No public transport, you will need you own car as quite an isolated location. Guests can view any of the animal activities that are happening on the farm if they wish, i.e. working cattle and sheep with the dogs or shearing if it is happening at the time of their stay.
