We built a space where we could be less preoccupied by our professions and more reliant on each other as we practice new skills together. It's our home, where we experience splendid nature, make architecture, art, music and food; practice community building; learn new skills; and maintain a place where we can enjoy each others company. If this vibes with you, we would be delighted to host you :) ———— There are multiple hidden spots all over the mountain estate that have been specifically created for a quick escape into the woods. "We believe in wellness of the community we live in, wellness of the forest we are surrounded by and wellness of our body, to explore the universe and the energy within." ARTIST RESIDENCY We are also an Artist Residency which hopes to establish itself as a place for artistic and community engagements. We want to help motivate and encourage the paradigm shift of humanity, which will lead to a more conscious, connected and expressive future for us all. We have an official process for residency with dues and a few rules. Our niche in Himachal is known for its weird, wild and wonderful global community of art and music lovers, spiritual seekers, yoga detoxers, permaculture nerds, lazy nature gazers, and the creative flip outs. This home is for everybody. If you didn’t get enough from that, here’s more - NORTH is - A platform to engage & sustain the Crafts, Heritage & Cultural Ecology in Himalayas. Moreover, our visitors and guests are expected to be respectful of our community members including helpers, staff, locals and friends, to be a mindful housemate, and to be socially engaged. Check- in time - 3 PM to 7 PM Check- out time - 11 AM We live in the centre of Naggar, walking distance from the nearest ATM, the local market, a pizzeria and cosy coffee shops littered along the mountain side. Even being bang amidst the heart of this village, it is very easy to find complete isolation and quiet if you keep walking up our property. We love the balance of the boisterous village and its ongoings along with the meditative calm the woods above give. The market for any supplies, the nearest ATM machine and the clinic all are a 10 minute walk away. SIGHTS AND SOUNDS There are multiple villages hidden amongst the mountains which you can trek up to. You can either go up the mountain or down into the valley right to the thundering Beas river. There are also ancient temples around with magnificent views and a different energy enveloping the space. Krishna Temple, a small trek up, is the perfect meditation spot. There is Roerich Art gallery which is the restored estate of a Russian painter and political activist, Nicolas Roerich. He travelled through the Himalayas, finally settling in Naggar and spent the last years of his life painting the mountains. You can view his brilliant work at the estate. Naggar is also famous for its Naggar castle which is an old structure made of stone and wood that stands on its own through just joineries. It also has a heritage museum which we are redesigning at the moment. Other than that, the entire mountain and roads are yours to explore! How to reach us? By Air - The nearest airport is further down in another valley an hour away in Bhuntar (Kullu Manali Airport). You can take the local bus or a taxi from there till Naggar. By Rail - The cheapest way is to take a train to Delhi and then travel in an overnight semi sleeper that makes a pit stop at Patlikul which is 20 kms ahead of Kullu, towards Manali. It's a 15 minute taxi ride from there to our home. You can also come by car. It’s roughly a 14 to 15 hours bumpy but beautiful journey from Delhi. | By Bus - A range of private and govt. (HRTC) buses are available every half hour from Delhi. You will have to ask the driver to drop you off at PATLIKUHL (roughly 30 mins before Manali). From there, it’s a 15 min taxi ride to our home in Naggar. These are very comfortable semi sleeper AC Volvo buses. Estimated travel time is around 12 hours Good to know - We are a part of the forest around us and this means our home is a home to the wilderness dwellers too. You may encounter rough roads, dirt, mud, insects, messes, bees, spiders, ants, snakes, etc. depending on the season. There is also the soothing Koyal's song in the rains along with a few honks down the road. There is Wifi but it is prone to not work in extreme weather conditions. Electricity may also give out during heavy rains/snowfall. Although we have lanterns, flashlights and enough candles to have a stormy candle lit dinner while playing cards. Hot water showers are very much possible and there is full network service most days. We are a boisterous family of people from everywhere who do everything together. The estate has many different spots where you’ll find someone playing the guitar and singing on a ledge, intense drafting work taking place in the research room in the creation corner, loud tunes blasting from the kitchen dancing, chopping and breakfast in process, a debate going on in the café about the better drink - the local apple juice or cider, the clouds above giving their best performances in the day and the valley showing its twinkle in the nights. This is our mountain kingdom, right in the sweet spot between the off grid life and the fast metropolis. Come visit us to achieve a semblance of balance in your life :)
