Honeysuckle House has its own private entrance and garden with barbecue and outside furniture - two sun-loungers, a table & four chairs, and sun umberella. The garden has a patio for the table and chairs and a small lawned area shaded by a lovely lime tree and with of course the honeysuckle growing along the fence. During the summer months Honeysuckle House benefits from the sunshine most of the day and evening. Outside parking for your car/s is available. Storage can be made available for bikes in our secure barn. If you are bringing your dog, be warned, the garden is not completely fenced - you may then wish to consider booking our other gorgeous gite Violets Cottage instead as it does have a completely fenced garden with gate to the drive (height approx 3'6"). More garden furniture and the Jacuzzi/Hot Tub are available in the large shared garden. All gardens have outstanding views across the valley to Saint Julien Le Petit. Free welcome pack. Bed linen and towels included, no extra charge. You can walk in the woods and countryside right from the doorstep of the cottage. The cycling is wonderful if a little challenging on the hills. The roads are very quiet for walking or cycling. You will need a car to visit local towns for shopping and site seeing. Parking at the accommodation can be right outside the door or on the drive. Fontchauvaux Holiday Gites is a beautiful property consisting of just two very private, secluded holiday homes set either side of a barn. The owners accommodation is a more recent conversion, discreetly situated beneath the barn in the centre of the property. Owners available on site (intercom. system operates between accommodations). The beautiful Haute Vienne - the Lake District with beaches and sunshine! The spectacular setting of these beautiful holiday homes is breath-taking. Nestling into the hillside the views from all windows and the gardens are stunning. If peace and quiet with just the sounds of bird-song and gentle tumbling water from the natural spring that flows across the garden and down to the river below is what you require Fontchauvaux is the place for you. On the doorstep wild life abounds in the surrounding countryside and woodlands. See deer, badgers, fox, black squirrels, pine martins and spectacular birds of prey soaring high up in the thermals. A profusion of wild flowers in the woodland glades. Within a short drive you can be in the pretty market towns and historic villages that the Limousin is renowned for. Visit the lakes, take a boat trip, sunbathe on the beaches, swim, fish, play a round of golf or take a leisurely lunch or dinner in a gourmet restaurant. The choice is yours! A car is necessary to explore the area. Woodland and countryside walks are right from the doorstep of the accommodation. This is a great place for cycling and walking. The roads are very quiet even if some of the hills are a little challenging. We now have our new Stained Glass Studio set up in the former piggery. We invite any of our guests booking for the 2021 season to join me (Karen) for an afternoon or morning (approx. 2 hrs.) demonstration of this fascinating craft (free of charge) sometime during your stay. I will give a taster session of the copper foil method of making projects with stained glass. This is the method used to make the original Tiffany Lampshades. Please let us know when making your booking for the house if you would like to take up this offer of a free demonstration. After the demonstration, if you decide you would like to have a go making something yourselves we can arrange a few hours to do this on another day. The session would include approx. 3 hours tuition, use of tools and all materials to make a small project to take home with you at an inclusive cost of €50 per person. For the comfort and health of all who stay and live at the Fontchauvaux properties (two gites & owners accommodation) we are a non smoking site - in the accommodations and all the gardens. Please consider this when booking as other guests may have booked specifically because we are non smoking. See also our AirBNB listing for our other gite Violets Cottage. Violets Cottage has a modern, open-plan lounge/diner with two bedrooms, bathroom and useful large entrance hallway up the spiral staircase. It is very private with a large completely fenced garden and outside store for bikes etc. Covid 19. Both of our holiday homes are spacious, completely separate and private with their own entrances and gardens. The Limousin is in Europe’s top 3 cleanest air locations. The density of its population is approximately 25 inhabitants per square km (in comparison, in Great Britain there are approximately 400 inhabitants per square km and in London, almost 5,000 inhabitants per square km). Precautions we are taking. 1. On your arrival guests will be met outside of the gite socially distancing. The keys will be in the gite door so that you can let yourselves in. The gite file contains instructions about the cottage and facilities. An intercom system operates between gites and our own accommodation, so that you can always contact us for help and advice with anything at all during your stay. 2. Between each and every booking, the gite will have been deep cleaned using cleaning aids and materials recommended for Covid 19 prevention. We use hand sanitiser before entering either gite and there will be hand sanitiser available for your use. We do not employ cleaners, maintenance contractors or gardeners. The clean, most maintenance issues and the gardening are carried out by ourselves (owners - Craig & Karen). 3.The jacuzzi/hot-tub water is tested after each use and has chlorine and various other chemicals added as necessary to ensure it is always safe and hygienic for you to use. The chlorine is a natural sanitiser. 4.The main shared garden and jacuzzi can only be used by one set of guests from either one of the gites at a time unless social distancing is strictly observed in the garden and at separate times in the jacuzzi. This need not apply if the two gites are booked by the same party. These restrictions will be relaxed as the regulations change.
