Riverside Retreat

Our Airbnb is situated on the foot of the Coromandel Peninsular, approx 1 hour from Auckland airport and an easy drive from the major Coromandel attractions. Situated in a small riverside village, our Airbnb contains everything you will need for short or medium stays including a kitchen, shower, toilet, outdoor seating area and BBQ. Our place is situated on the first floor so please ensure you are comfortable with stairways before you book. Once upstairs, you will have an open plan lounge, kitchen area and separate bedroom with en-suite. There is a sheltered outdoor seating area with BBQ for you to use throughout your stay. We live on site but the accomodation is in a separate building with its own entrance. We will leave you to enjoy your stay but will be available if you need any assistance. Our place is located in the small village of Turua on the banks of the Waihou river. To the East we have a fantastic view of the Coromandel mountain range and to the West, the Hauraki Plains. Within walking distance is a bakery, and dairy (grocery shop). The popular Hauraki rail trial is a 5 min drive from the property and we have a secure place to leave your bikes if required. The Kauaeranga valley is 20 mins away and is very popular for those wishing to take the pinnacles walk. The historic mining town of Thames offers many things to do and is also the place to find all the local shops and supermarkets. Thames is a 15 min drive from the property. If you are looking for the beach, Pauanui and Tairua are an easy 40 min drive over the hill. Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach are around an hour drive and make ideal day trips. Another popular day trip is to Matamata , home of Hobbiton and filming location of the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit movies. Matamata is around an hour drive from the property. Thames is 15 min drive and is the main centre where you can find most things you'll need. Taxi's can be arranged and there is a regular shuttle service to Auckland.
