A small cottage set in the quiet hills of Barog valley in Himachal Pradesh, India. Experience the slow and easy life in this warm and welcoming home set against the mountains and pine trees! A gorgeous one bedroom with an attached bathroom and a large terrace which has a sit-out (to enjoy the sunny afternoons and chilly evenings). There is also a warm and welcoming living room with an old fireplace and dining table next to an open-plan kitchen. We encourage you to enjoy cooking for yourself there with some of the freshly grown ingredients (seasonal) from our garden. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, fridge/freezer, and utensils needed for cooking and eating. Guests can enjoy their morning tea/coffee on the terrace with a lovely valley view and the evening, watching the beautiful sun setting in the hills up front. We supply towels, soap and shampoo in the bathroom. The entire space is accessible to guests who can feel like a local while living here. They will be given a set of keys and explained how everything works. The cottage is on a slope so there are stairs downhill to access the cottage. Please note that there is no elevator. A collection of DVDs (lots of movies and box sets of sitcoms), books and magazines are available for guests to borrow during their stay. (SUSPENDED) There is a basic daily cleaning service provided in the morning. (SUSPENDED) A caretaker will be present during the entire stay and will personally show you how everything works. We will leave our phone numbers just in case there is anything that you may need during your trip. We would be delighted to help with suggesting activities for your stay. The neighbourhood is quiet and is meant for those looking to connect with nature and disconnect from the world. There is peace and tranquility with pine trees and mountains all around so the town is ideal for exploring on foot. Remember to bring your sneakers and gumboots in the rain / snow months! This is a residential neighbourhood so please enjoy the space but respect others living nearby and keep the noise levels outside to a minimum. A small hotel which is within walking distance (less than 1 km) has an outdoor cafe which is an great spot for a sunny lunch or a bon fire in the evening. There are several small spots nearby to enjoy the traditional 'desi chai' and Maggi. We will be happy to arrange pick-up and drop-off for guests from the nearest train station (Kalka or Barog) or airports (Chandigarh or Delhi). A taxi (AC or non-AC) can be organised for day trips to nearby towns like Shimla, Kasauli, Chail etc. We will of course be very happy to advise on things to do if you're looking to do some sightseeing. Meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) can be provided at an extra charge - vegetarian only. The menu depends on availability of fresh local produce so please check for that a night before so preparations can be made. Ironing / pressing service is provided by us. (SUSPENDED) The rental price includes electricity and water charges. All the art displayed in the house is for sale! Get in touch after your stay, if you’re interested. :)
