Reindeer Lodge - Rustic Mountain Getaway

Set amongst the forest of Mt.BawBaw, guests discover the serenity of our natural landscape. Enjoy a soundscape of birds, see a dazzling night sky, take long walks through the forest, visit our local waterfall and relax with people you cherish around our fireplace in a charming, rustic interior. No need to forego modern comforts though, as we are the only ones in Tanjil Bren providing for your electricity and internet needs with our large solar system and high speed internet via satellite. Reindeer Lodge was built in 1992 and is in the middle of the forest at the highest point in Tanjil Bren. It has beautiful views overlooking a valley to a mountain and is surrounded by large gum trees. Reindeer Lodge has all the rustic charm of a large A frame Mountain Lodge with old logging and antique memorabilia throughout. Tanjil Bren is still an undiscovered place of fresh air, clean water, and tranquility in the heart of the forest. Here, you can relax in rustic luxury. Reindeer Lodge caters for eight people with one queen bed, one double bed and four single beds in two bunks in the bunk room. The bunk room is best suited to two adults or up to four children. Living, dining, and kitchen are in one large open plan room. An internal spiral staircase leads to a hideaway bedroom in the loft. The Lodge is heated with a big slow combustion fireplace, which can be shut down to slow combust all night or sit in front of, stay cosy and watch the beautiful log fire. We are located in the old gold prospector's village of Tanjil Bren, population 6. This historical village is only a 2-2 1/2 hours drive east of Melbourne, in the Baw Baw ranges. Tanjil Bren is the closest off mountain accommodation to Mt Baw Baw Ski Resort, which is only 20 minutes drive away. Mt Baw Baw offers great skiing, both downhill, cross country and snow boarding. There is a variety of things to do, including skiing, fishing, bush walking or you may just choose to relax with your family or friends in front of the fire. This is a great place to 'get away'. We provide all the firewood, birdseed, and kitchen and bathroom essentials that you need, just bring bed linen, towels, food, and you'll be all set. If you are visiting from interstate or overseas and it it not possible for you to bring linen and towels, then please let me know and we will make a special arrangement for you.
