The Chapel at Barn Cottage unique country retreat
Located adjacent to the Cuckoo Trail in the centre of Maynards Green, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, is the charming Chapel at Barn Cottage. A former 15th Century Chapel which has been lovingly converted to a gorgeous, characterful, self contained 2 bedroom retreat, next to our own home. Boasting original features including an ingle nook fireplace yet retaining the luxury you deserve on your break away. Local pub just a short walk away. Ideal for walkers & exploring The Chapel, conveniently situated on the road through the village, and comprises a fully fitted kitchen/diner, large, galleried lounge, with inglenook fireplace, 2 bedrooms which can be configured as 2 x super king double rooms, or one double room, and one twin, please let us know your preference when booking. There is a pretty, enclosed, courtyard garden. You have you own entrance direct into the Chapel. You will have the whole space to yourselves to enjoy! Please consider this your home during your stay. We are available if you need anything, but will leave you your privacy unless you contact us. (Our numbers are in the guest handbook). The Cuckoo Trail runs behind the house and can be accessed by turning left or right when leaving the house. Left, go to West Street Lane, access is just on the right. Right, turn right onto Tubwell Lane, access is down the hill on the left. Both about 3 or 4 minutes walk away. There are multiple shops at Heathfield and Horam, each just over a mile away. The Runt In Tun pub is in walking distance, just turn left from the house. It can also be reached via the Cuckoo Trail, but wouldn’t recommend in darkness. There is no street lighting, so we recommend you use a torch if venturing out after dark. Further afield are Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells, Brighton, Battle, Hastings and many more. We imagine you will arrive by car. There is a parking space at Barn Cottage, there is also on street parking in a lay-by just by the entrance to the Chapel which you may find more convenient. During your stay, there are great cycle rides and walks to be had. There is a bus service that runs through the village between Heathfield and Eastbourne. There are plenty of activities for the little ones too. including Drusillas close by. More detailed information will be found in the guestbook in the house. Please don’t flush anything other than toilet paper down the loo, it works on a pump system that is fine, but won’t cope with anything cotton based. I have left bags for other items which can be tied and left in the bin provided.
