This listing is for your own private bunkhouse at the campground. Each bunkhouse sleeps up to 4 ppl in single bunks. The campground is in a remote location, no internet/no cell coverage/no electricity. You can get coverage up the road on way to Millinocket. Bring a flashlight and/or headlight. You will need to bring food and drinking water. The night skies are amazing and on a clear, moonless night, you will be treated to millions of stars, the Milky Way and maybe even the northern lights! The Bunkhouse is located on our campground, which also has a large main pavilion. The bunkhouses are not heated and have no electricity. There are 4 beds in each private bunkhouse. Mattress, pillow sheets & blanket are provided. Most of our guests choose to bring their own sleeping bags. Flush toilets and showers are attached to the rear of the pavilion **When generator is off, flush facilities do not work. Generator will run between 7 AM-9 AM and between 7 PM-8PM** Traditional Maine outhouses are in two locations in the campground. Please refer to your campground map to find these locations. Unplug and enjoy nature with a few of the creature comforts from home! Guests have access to the entire campground (volleyball courts). Enter main pavilion to check-in at front desk. The location is remote, so plan on bringing a flashlight and whatever food and water you need. You can pick up groceries at Hannaford Supermarket in Millinocket on the way to our site. There are also many little gas station/variety stores to stop at and pick up essentials, including the North Woods Trading Post that is only 6 miles from POC (they also have breakfast sandwiches, pizza and other quick food and drink items as well as souvenirs). ****We have another location with full service cabins and a full service restaurant: New England Outdoor Center (NEOC Twin Pines) and River Driver’s Restaurant. NEOC and River Drivers are located 6 miles away from POC towards Millinocket. You will see signs for both on the way to the campground. ****Twin Pines also sells t-shirts, hats, greeting cards, photos, art and other souvenirs to remember your trip to the Great North Woods of Maine*** Guest Interaction section: Check-in starts at 3pm. Checkout is at 10am.The desk is usually open from 8-10 and 3 to close. **If you will arrive after hours, you will find your reservation packet outside the main pavilion door area. This is an opportunity to stay next to one of the largest wilderness areas in the north east. Just 2 miles from the south gate to Baxter State Park - so close to Katahdin. Hugh night sky and sometimes you can photograph the northern lights. Campground is located 2 miles from the south gate of Baxter State Park--an ideal location to explore the Katahdin Region. You should have a car, and fuel up in Millinocket on the way to our site. We are just 15 miles from Millinocket. The North Woods Trading post is 6 miles from us and they have gas for your car, drinks, pizza and other food items, like breakfast sandwiches. It is Maine and it can get cool in the evenings even in the middle of summer so you may want to pack at least one sweatshirt/jacket depending on the weather forecast. Your “to bring” list: - A flashlight or headlamp - Food (cooler for cold stuff) - Cooking grate for campfire - Drinking water (we have potable water but you should bring some too) - Warm clothes - a good book - solar charger pack - bug spray We turn the generator on in the main buildings morning and evenings so you will have access to hot showers and flush toilets at those times.
