The Red Door is very well situated for exploring the north Waikato and Coromandel, the Hauraki Rail Trail, Coromandel ranges, towns and beaches, adjacent to the Thames Golf Course. Perfect for Golfers & Work. STRICTLY NON SOMKERS NON VAPERS, NO Drugs Just over an hour's drive from Auckland airport. This suite is a specific guest accommodation, with a King size bed, clean fresh linen, plus a King Single bed, towels, heater, heated towel rail, ceiling fan, insect screens on windows, warmly carpeted. Continental breakfast (teas, coffees, juice, fresh fruit and cereal, toast bread ( whole wheat; spelt/rye; gluten free on request) butter, jams) Dishes, cutlery, electric jug, toaster, microwave and small fridge are provided in the space. Independent separate front access for your convenience and privacy. The property is located on SH26 adjacent to the THAMES GOLF COURSE, and just a few metres from the Kirikiri entry to the HAURAKI RAIL TRAIL. It is a great base for exploring Thames, the Coromandel and other areas such as the bird colonies at Miranda. Facility for parking cycles and drying sports garments can be made available on request. Vehicle Parking is off-road immediately in front of guest suite. We can also accommodate 1 medium size Self Contained motor home if required at a small charge , with connection to electricity. Rural views across the Hauraki plains to distant hills to the west and views of the Coromandel ranges and The Pinnacles to the north and east from the property. The property is gated and fully fenced. Use of the Hosts' laundry and clothesline is available by arrangement. Guests are welcome to wander & enjoy the garden until dark A cooked breakfast may be requested at certain times by pre-arrangement for an additional charge We enjoy socialising, if and when required by guests. We are available for queries and tips on what to do in the area and where to visit at different times. We offer beach towels and a spade for digging your own hole in the sand at Hot Water Beach, should you choose to go there, and providing you are staying two nights or more. The area is very green. We are situated in a rural/ lifestyle area adjacent to dairy farms and the Thames Country golf club. The native forested Coromandel ranges are nearby in view. You may see a wide range of native bird life in and around our property depending on the season including tui, bellbird, fantail, silver eye, native pigeon (Kereru), wading birds and blue herons. There are approximately 38 CAFE'S in Thames (mostly open between 7.30 am and 4pm) A number of these serve full breakfasts, hearty meals or fine cuisine. The nearest road cafes are between 800m - 3km from our property. The artisan MATATOKI CHEESE BARN & cafe is 3km south on SH26. On Saturday mornings the famed THAMES /GRAHAMSTOWN MARKET offers a wide range of produce, fruit, free range eggs, breads, pastries and baked goods, preserves, hand crafts (soaps, knitted and sewn goods), vegetable and flower plants, recycled & re-purposed items. The HAURAKI RAIL TRAIL entry is located 500m along the road - we are ideally located for cyclists and road travellers. The KAUEARENGA VALLEY visitor centre is 20mins drive north east- well worth the visit and check in here for your hike to the Pinnacles. Our handy location is 40-45 minutes from the MIRANDA SEABIRD CENTRE in the estuary and from TAIRUA on the east coast. WAIHI TOWN is one hour away by car. Other attractions are the THAMES GOLDMINE and SCHOOL OF MINES - 15 mins; Kauaeranga Valley DOC (Department Of Conservation ) visitor centre 30mins; (highly recommeded) and many walks and trails within 15 mins drive. The KARANGAHAKE GORGE walk/cycle trail/tunnel is a 40 minute drive south. AUCKLAND AIRPORT is just 75 minutes drive by car on off peak times. We can provide transport if required within reasonable hours into or from Thames by prior arrangements. There is a Thames town connector bus service . Landliner buses travel daily from Thames to Auckland, Tauranga and Hamilton. We can provide pick up /drop off when required. As we are in a rural area next to a farm, occasional animal calls and road noise at busy times may or may not be heard depending on the wind direction. Otherwise it is a peaceful private retreat.
