Retreat&Reconnect. Enjoy a luxury glamping getaway to Moonshadow yurt. This true Mongolian yurt is a work of art and is well equipped with a very comfy main bed, imported rugs, outdoor kitchen, solar/electric lights +more. From June enjoy a new shower and private hot tub. Enjoy the tranquility of farm life - goat cuddles, star gazing, classes & catering yet mins to Mahone Bay, freshwater swimming & bike trails. Sleeps 4, 5 in a pinch. Group book with our other listings. *No pets or smoking. Taking bookings now for May 15th onwards. Moonshadow yurt is a beautiful, natural and exotic glamping yurt built in the traditional fashion in Mongolia with hand painted accents throughout and a luxury feel. Moonshadow sits in the ancient orchard of this 260 yr old heritage farm and sanctuary overlooking rolling hills, a stream and surrounded by forest. She is equipped with a plush double bed suitable for 2 with supplementary beds (chair bed and a fold-away cot) making it suited to a family with 2 children or 4 cozy adults. An optional 5th person may also be possible The interior of Moonshadow has magical twinkly lights on remote control making for a romantic atmosphere (there are optional ceiling lights and an electric floor lamp too). There are beautiful woollen imported Mongolian rugs - slippers provided to help you cozy up and silk wall hangings. There is a powerplug for charging and an electric heater for cooler Spring morning/evenings. There is a dining area inside and a basic functional kitchen outside (propane stove top and BBQ) - plates, cutlery, coffee press, towels are all supplied along with delicious limitless fresh drinking water. Please bring your own coffee, tea and essential condiments though small amts of some are provided. Wifi on site. A compost toilet is located very near the yurt and must be amongst the best ‘room with a view’ on offer anywhere. A portable toilet with privacy screen is also available inside the yurt for when nature calls at night Outside, a double swing provides the perfect invitation to wile away some time reading, relaxing and reconnecting while embracing nature and the sweeping views. **We are excited that this summer will see an on-demand hot shower and Moonshadow's very own private hot tub. Come nightfall, your own telescope will come into it's own with 0 light pollution - the star filled skies are astounding. A gelbased outdoor fireplace and no road noise or neighbours provides the ultimate opportunity to relax. The resident Great Horned Owls may hoot through the night (ear plugs provided for light sleepers). Ask about delivery of our famous Charcuterie grazing boards right to your door. Parking is provided nearby except during wet weather when the gravel road may not be usable – in which case the yurt is approximately 100ft from the parking area. Our farmshop may have additional treats for your stay including our own and neighbouring farms' jams, preserves, honey, eggs, imported cheeses, basic provisions and more. In season we have outdoor seating at the café, a great spot to enjoy the antics of our sanctuary goats and the sweeping scenery. We expect goat yoga to resume with a regular schedule starting in June. *Prebooked lunches, including picnic lunches to take into the field are a special treat for 2022. An easy walking trail will help you explore the property, while freshwater swimming is very accessible at a nearby provincial park (as well as the beautiful south shore beaches). Bikers will be happy to hear the province's rail to trail biking network connects just down the road. Mahone Bay is very near by, as is the highway and our own sweet neighbourhood convenience store with the ever affable and legendary Sam waiting to welcome you is on our street (3km stroll or quick drive). Please note: we are strictly NON smoking (all types) and a no pet facility. There is open water on the property, making us unsuitable for wandering children and as a working farm - it is mandatory that all children stay with parents at all times. *While we have stopped offering tours since COVID, guests are able (fine weather dependent) to enjoy one on one time with our friendly goats. Sturdy footwear required, wellies recommended. Also ask about our special classes in Be a Farmer and Introduction to Cheese making - where you can be hands on making your very own cheese, collect eggs or learn to milk a goat! Guests can hike or bike (in season) the fields and woodland trail and can enjoy goat snuggles (weather permitting), free range chicken, guinea and bunny antics or maybe even hear pigs snoring - courtesy of our on site farm animal sanctuary. Register for Be a Farmer classes to learn cheese making or milk a goat. Enjoy charcuterie delivered to your door or sit outside to enjoy the scenery at our farm cafe (outdoor seating in summer). Visit the farm shop for essentials like s'more kits, jam, jellies, cheese making kits, gifts & more. We are always reachable and enjoy having a pleasant chat with guests when possible, however, we are busy farmers and also appreciate our guests often come for peace and relative solitude. Located on one of the original settler homesteads of Lunenburg County dating to the 1760s, we are set on 80 acres yet surrounded by 1000s more acres of forest and fields - while just a few minutes drive to Mahone Bay, Bridgewater and the highway taking you to Chester (and the famous Nordic Spa) or onto Halifax in under an hour or south to the wonderful white beaches and sites of the remainder of the south shore . A freshwater swimming lake provincial park is nearby and is accessible via a decent bike ride. The Rail to Trails network is on our doorstep. A car or road bike is required to reach us. We are just 4.5km from the highway exit for Mahone Bay, off the main lighthouse coast road. We are a working farm offering a peaceful eco-retreat so are best suited to quiet guests. Quiet hours after 11pm, strictly no smoking on site and no pets or visitors permitted.
