My cat and I live alone in a 1947 weatherboard Bungalow, located on the borders of the Wollongong suburbs of Coniston and Mangerton. The property is near the Wollongong CBD, sports and cultural precincts; a 10 minutes drive to both the University of Wollongong and Buddhist University; 5 minutes drive from the public and private hospitals and beaches. My place best caters for travellers, business persons, university students and researchers. The house is not leased as an unoccupied building. There is a 1970s feel throughout the house except for two recently restored bedrooms and washing facilities. The house is furnished with antiques and vintage pieces. The large rumpus room, used for dining and relaxation compliments the library, lounge room, tourist brochure room – all open for use. The property, situated in a quiet leafy neighbourhood, sits on ¼ acre block of tall trees, ferns, ginger, orchids, bromeliads and Australian native plants. The accommodation provides peace and tranquillity. Across the road is a small shady park with swings etc. Parrots visit for breakfast and both nectar and meat eating birds are viewed throughout the day. The gardens contain areas for sitting, reading or contemplation. My cat 'Toulouse' and I live on the property. I will be greeting guests on arrival and departure. Guests can access the shared facilities including bathroom, toilet room, all reception rooms, kitchen and laundry. Guests can access the T.V., DVD player and wifi with extension into the bedrooms. I provide complimentary return transport to/from Wollongong Station and Albion Park Airport, which provides direct flights to Brisbane and Melbourne. My motto is friendliness, courtesy and service. Guests are encouraged to explore the beautiful Wollongong city and beaches, walking, cycling tracks, shops and cafes. The Illawarra district also contains awesome Lake Illawarra, the home of wetlands, yachting, and parasailing. Drives to the south coast’s and southern highlands country villages and rainforests display quaint villages and historic sites and wineries. The neighbourhood has close proximity to the bush, farmland and sea. There are friendly eateries, nearby and in the CDB. Wollongong attracts with both its cultural and sporting events. The largest NSW regional gallery, live theatre, concerts, the latest block buster films, twilight movies in the Botanical Gardens; markets, and music festivals. I encourage travellers to visit the Wollongong Destination website for updated information for all activities. Parking is on site. Transport in Wollongong has many facits. The trains run south to Nowra and North to Sydney frequently. Buses run throughout the city and suburbs. Both means of transport use opal card which is uploaded with funds prior to travel. Taxis and urber facilitate short routs to events but can be expensive. Parking around the universities is expensive and mostly booked out, I therefore provide personal transport for $20 per person – saving time with public transport and expense. Both students and businessmen have used this facility. Bike hire is available with customized pick up and drop off points and are an excellent means of discovering the coastal plain. Hire car firms include Hertz, Budget, Avis are excellent for long explorations and I provide complimentary transport to/from their locations. I provide personal tours of the City and surrounding districts at $15 per person, per hour, where I show my favourite sites and narrate the history and economic development of Wollongong. Guests can partake of continental breakfasts for $10 per person per day, which include fruit salad and yogurt, toast and condiments, breakfast juice, tea or coffee. As an Historian and Genealogist, I can assist with destroying family brick walls with personal assistance for $30 per hour.
