The Woolshed Cottage @ Merlewood
Escape the craziness @ Merlewood. Our place is a unique, rural rustic getaway with plenty of open spaces. The Woolshed Cottage has two bedrooms, easily catering to couples, families and small groups of up to 6. Only 8 mins to Alexandra and Yarck, 20 mins to Yea, 35 mins to Mansfield & 75 mins to Mt Buller. Merlewood is a working Llama farm situated on 50 acres of hilly terrain with sweeping views over the Spring Creek Valley. From Merlewood you can explore Lake Eildon, Goulburn River, Alexandra, Yea, Yarck, Marysville, Mansfield and all of small towns in between with all of the attractions and activities each offers. Visit wineries, cafes, restaurants and pubs (there's even a Whisky Bar not too far away), craft and antique shops, museums, libraries and markets. Try your hand at boating on Lake Eildon (rentals are available at Jerusalem Creek), skiing/mountain biking at Mt Buller (depending on season), bushwalking at any of the State Parks and National Parks surrounding us or ride the Great Victorian Rail Trail at the end of Spring Creek Road. Meander through our extensive gardens or anywhere around our 50 acres (don't forget to say hi to the llamas), have a hit of tennis on our granitic sand tennis court. Have a dip in our in-ground salt water chlorinated, solar panel heated pool located adjacent to the Homestead (this is shared but we will give you privacy if you use it. Closed April to November). Relax in your own private two-person spa (Epsom Salts and Essential Oils available on request). Take in the views from your own verandah or top of the back paddock, enjoy a private BBQ dinner on your verandah or picnic lunch with our blankets and baskets anywhere you choose! We also suggest taking in a sunset from the top of the back paddock - don't forget to bring your camera! There is always someone on-site. If not myself, my husband Lars or Caretaker Chris - all cheerful and on hand to make your stay enjoyable. Boots the cat is always in residence and may say hello, Hunter and Diesel the geriatric friendly German Shepherd dogs are also around and more than happy to greet you, however the Cottage is positioned 40 metres away from the Homestead for the utmost of quiet and privacy. If you need anything at all during your stay, simply message me via Air BnB and someone will reply super fast. We assure you of contactless check-in also inline with Government regulations. We are located on a sealed country backroad off the Goulburn Valley Highway surrounded by other farms for the utmost of peace and quiet. You might hear cockatoos, possums, bats and cows and that's about it really (Llamas don't really make any noise - well not often anyway). This is a working farm (as is every other farm around us), so yes there can be dust, there can be insects (flies and mosquitos and spiders), it can get a bit windy from time to time and on occasion there's a tractor moving around the paddocks. You may also hear a the odd gunshot in the distance and hear/see motorbikes. We understand that this isn't everyone's cup of tea (I mean we love it here obviously - we live here), so if this sounds like something that really isn't for you, then we please ask you to choose somewhere else to stay. :-) We ask that you respect the fact that this is our home, it is set up how we like it. If you do choose to stay with us and you discover it's not for you - there are no refunds for early departure. Please consider your choice carefully and if something is really bothering you during your stay, please talk to us first before leaving us a less than 5 star review or worse - no review at all. Also be advised that our Homestead (where we live) is located 40 metres away from The Woolshed. For some people this isn't far enough and if this is you - please select somewhere else for your getaway. Thanks for your courtesy, respect and consideration. :-) Both Seymour and Euroa are the nearest V/Line train stations located 45 minutes drive respectively. V/Line buses operate out of Alexandra - an 8 minute drive. Those cycling The Great Victorian Rail Trail can alight at Koriella and we do offer a pick up and drop off service (we require some notice to ensure the correct vehicle is available). The pool and tennis court are both shared facilities (we like to use them too, however if you are using them, we will leave you to it). We have two children in residence so please drive slowly and carefully up the driveway. They know to be quiet and give privacy to guests. :-) Please note: We do not accept third party bookings as per Air BnB's terms and conditions. Please ensure the person making the booking is the person coming to stay. We appreciate your understanding. Mobile phone connection is only available if you are with Telstra on the front verandah. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. There is a split system air conditioner located in the lounge room which will cool/heat the entire Cottage along with ceiling fans in all rooms except for the bathroom. There is no air conditioning specifically located in the bedrooms. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We do ensure thorough cleaning with commercial-grade disinfectant after each guest checks out to safeguard your health and safety and provide hand sanitiser to our guests and comply with all Air BnB's cleaning protocols. Mandatory times in between guests are maintained. Terms and Conditions of your stay are located on the fridge. Please be sure to review them within 24 hours' of your arrival. Should you disagree with any of the T&Cs - you are welcome to a full refund. Please do come and see us first however to discuss your concerns before departure. :-) We are closed Christmas Eve and Day for family reasons. Sorry but we don't do single nights. Minimum stay is 2 nights.
