A clean and simple double room with shared bathroom at Devaki's Kitchen Guesthouse, set in the peaceful heart of rural Wayanad. Enjoy activities like yoga and cooking classes. Know that you are helping the local area by supporting the NGO RASTA. Devaki's Kitchen Village Guesthouse is a standalone building that contains three bedrooms. The rooms are connected by an open foyer and a small, shared lounge area. The facilities are freshly-renovated, clean and basic. The shared bathroom includes a Western toilet, hot running water and a bucket for self washing. The beds can be split into two single beds should you require. Bedding and towels are provided. As a guest, you will have use of communal areas that are shared by the RASTA staff and volunteers. These include a newly renovated work, study and chill-out room, a yoga & meditation hall and the mess hall where all meals are served. You can access the shared spaces throughout the day, use the fridge to store your food, and buy snacks from the small store. There is a souvenir/gift shop on site as well. Free WIFI is available during the RASTA office hours. This can be extended upon request. We will make sure that someone is there to meet you for check-in. There will be staff in the main building during office hours. Devaki's Kitchen Guesthouse is situated amongst, and directly associated with, the NGO RASTA. By choosing to stay here you will be directly contributing to RASTA and the projects they run. You have the option to enjoy 3 delicious, organic meals a day, cooked by Devaki herself! Breakfast - 80rs per person Lunch/Dinner - 100rs per person You will be able to spend meal times with the staff and volunteers and find out about their work. Devaki's Kitchen Guesthouse is located on a quiet, rural road. It is a 15 minute walk to the local village, Kambalakkad. It is possible to buy all your necessities in Kambalakkad and there are also ATM machines. It is a 20 minute walk to a near-by river where it is possible to swim, dependent on the season. The district of Wayanad likes to think of itself as the most green and beautiful area in India. Lying in the crest of Kerala's Western Ghats, major towns are hidden amongst a remote forest reserve that spills into Tamil Nadu. The landscape is a combination of natural rainforest and farming plantations. The lush rolling jungle hills offer spectacular views. From Devaki's Kitchen Guesthouse you will not only have the opportunity to explore the local area, visits to all of Wayanad's many tourist attractions can be arranged, such as Chembra Peak and Thirunelly Temple. Wayanad is also known for it's wild animals, which inhabit the jungle of the nature reserves. Travel can be arranged to either Muthanga or Thollpetty Wildlife Sanctuaries, where you can go animal spotting on safari. There is plenty of local transportation available that connects us to the surrounding villages, as well as to larger cities. To get to Devaki's Kitchen Guesthouse you can take a bus to Kambalakkad and either walk (15 mins) or hire a rickshaw (about 40 INR) to our door. Alternatively, a rickshaw from Kalpetta will cost about 180 INR. We are flexible with check-in and check-out times depending on our availability. Please let us know if you are interested in yoga and meditation classes, ayuverda treatments or cooking classes, we can arrange these on-site.
