Home Away from Home

Wharewaka Cottage is an historic little building preserved by the owners for extra accommodation for their family. Its a warm, cosy, self-contained cottage within walking distance of Lake Taupo. The kitchen has most amenities and there is Sky TV to be enjoyed. Sorry no pets and in fairness to all guests, we insist on a double vax policy. Access to the cottage is from its own driveway and up a few steps. The owners live next door so are on hand for information and help. Guests are welcome to walk down to the water through the garden. We try to meet our guests on arrival or just after. We have been welcoming people from all over the world for over ten years and many return. Our neighbourhood is a quiet, residential one and the beaches below enjoy picnickers and families by the day. A car is recommended but once here there are numerous walks north and south along the lakeshore. The cottage is situated four miles out of town and takes seven minutes to drive to the town centre and three minutes to the airport. A car is recommended but we are on the local bus route.
