Situated on a 2.5 acre semi bush/orchard block close to the convenient shops and eateries of historic Mundaring. (15 minutes level walking). Direct access to beautiful bush walks and trails. Regular bus services run from Mundaring to Midland, where trains run daily to city every 15 minutes. Watowa is perfect for interstate and overseas visitors, 40 mins to the Airport, 40 mins from the city and 15 mins to Midland Bus station. The name Watowa comes from my family history, and is a link between Ghana in West Africa and Perth, Western Australia. The comfy, friendly home is reminiscent of a little lodge somewhere in Africa but is still very much a classic Aussie country dwelling, with decking all round and big old gum trees supplying plenty of shade. It's nice and roomy inside, polished Jarrah floors, reverse-cycle air conditioning (as well as ceiling fans) plus clean and newly fitted utilities. All clean bedding and towels are supplied. Your kitchen has everything you need for self-catering and an automatic washing machine is provided in the laundry. Wake up to the sound of Kookaburras, pat the horses and give them a carrot, and enjoy breakfast on the deck while taking in the views to the fejoa orchard. We provide breakfast (cereals, tea, organic coffee and fresh milk) Go ahead and order a breakfast hamper of bacon, fresh farm eggs, locally grown tomatoes, mushrooms and fresh fruit for only $25. In winter, the brand new slow combustion Kent fire gives you warmth and cheer in the winter after your afternoon ramble in the State Forest or lunch at the Mundaring Weir Hotel. First bag of wood is free of charge but you can grab some more from us for an additional $10.00 a bag. If you're staying at Watowa for more than a week, we will spruce things up for you weekly, if less than a week, we clean before and after your stay. We just ask our guests to please keep all floors and the kitchen tidy in the interests of hygiene, and please put any rubbish and recyling in the labelled bins provided for your convenience. Come visit! Watowa is completely self contained in its own private setting at the top of an orchard and is accessed via our shared driveway. Guests have the privacy of their own secluded garden and can stroll down the front drive to the Railway Heritage Reserves Bridle Trail or access Beelu National Park through the back gate of the property. You can request a key to the back gate but please ask us for assistance if the horses (they're friendly!) are in the back paddock. Please don't enter the horse paddock without asking first. Thanks. Our main house is located towards the back boundary of the property and of course we're happy to help with any queries, information on the surrounds, or extra needs, at any time, but we'll leave you to relax in the privacy of your own getaway in the Perth Hills. I am usually at work through the day but have Wednesdays off. My husband Greg is usually around somewhere tending to the gardens or the animals if you need some information. Great relaxation for small group stay for artists, quilters, handicrafters attending local workshops or events. Mundaring sharing and Mundaring Arts Centre only 5 minutes drive. Mundaring is rich in history and is known mainly for the Mundaring Weir, which is only 10 minutes drive away. C.Y O'Connor was responsible for building the incredible pipe line that supplies water to towns in the wheat belt and all the way to Kalgoorlie. There are also attractions such as Lake Leschenaultia, 15 minutes drive from Mundaring, great restaurants like The Mahogany Inn, wineries such as Darlington Winery nearby. The nearby Swan Valley is a popular tourist hub and boasts Mash Brewery, Margaret River Chocolate Factory wineries, eateries and festivals. The Mundaring Golf Course is virtually on our doorstep if you want to get in a couple of holes it's only 5 minutes away. Mundaring boasts one of the best children's playground and activity park in the Hills and Bilgoman Pool offers serious swimmers and families great swimming facilities. Mundaring Tennis Club is situated in a central location in Mundaring town as is the Mundaring Arts Centre. Lots to do! There is a regular monthly market in Mundaring, More information from Mundaring visitor centre. If cycling and walking are your interests, there is the Munda Biddi Cycling trail and the famous Bibbulmun Walk Track which are both over 1000 kms long and terminate in Albany. Both can be accessed from Mundaring. We are within level walking distance to Mundaring town (15 minutes). There is a regular bus service to Midland and from there regular train and bus services to Perth, Fremantle and beyond throughout the day. We can advise you of car hire if you wish and most people do tend to book this before arriving. Buses and coaches from the Eastern Wheatbelt pass through Mundaring on their way to Midland and some drop people off in Mundaring. A car is a necessity though if visiting all the sites and wineries above. Although, it is an ideal place to go cycling, walking, horse riding or just simply relaxing with a good book and a bottle of wine! In the Summer months there are days when there is a complete fire ban. This includes the lighting of BBQs. Please check with us before lighting the BBQ and we'll assist you if this is the case. We might also need to water the plants now and then.
