Self-contained rural hideaway

Set within 6 acres of farmland this 1993 self-contained caravan with a double bedroom and French doors to a deck is a comfortable spot to get a taste of rural life, while only being 7 minutes away from the heart of Lower Hutt. As local beekeepers, we'll have honey and farm fresh eggs from our chickens ready for you on arrival. This getaway is ideal for 2, but with space for 4 people - this will suit people who enjoy living in close quarters or families with younger children. #bonnydoonz The caravan is self-contained, with a small toilet and shower and you are welcome to visit our animals and explore the property, down the pine forest to do the loop. Go collect eggs from the chickens for breakfast, say hey to the bunnies or chat with our sheep on your way to the creek to see the chickens. It is a working farm so you’ll need normal caution around farm animals. It is a caravan and it’s in the bush - so comfort with that type of environment is a must if you come and visit! Well behaved dogs are welcome - please let us know about your dog and how they relate to other animals before you book. You are welcome to head around the property to visit the animals and enjoy the rural setting. There is plenty of parking available right by the BNB. Al, the Beekeeper, is around most of the time to answer any questions or help out. The BNB is 100 metres from the main house, so you can pop up for a chat or be completely on your own - we will be guided by you. We do ask that you do communicate with us during your stay if anything is not working for you - not after as per the Airbnb way. We are happy to fix issues at the time of the stay, so it’s important that we are given the opportunity to do that. Belmont Hill is a perfect urban meets rural environment. We are 5 minutes from the Hutt motorway, 10 minutes from the Hutt CBD and another 20 minutes of will get you into Wellington. We are in walking distance (just up the road) of Belmont Regional Park and there are plenty of tracks to explore throughout Belmont. There is a bus route 5 minutes walk from Bonny Doon, which runs 6 days a week and will transport you into the Lower Hutt CBD. The hot water is powered by gas. When you turn on a tap in the sink or shower it will take a few seconds and you will hear the gas kick in and the water will get hot. The stove is also gas, so you need to switch the 12 volt system on and then switch on the gas and the hob will light automatically, you will need to light the oven manually. The toilet is a camping loo and needs a few flushes each time. When you are filling the jug for a hot drink, use the filtered water. The wi-fi is excellent and fast.
