Stay in our eco friendly cabin, in luxury! Our micro-cabins are almost 100% off-grid, with a wood burning stove, solar powered lighting, composting toilet, etc. The leafy outside area has a deck/porch, and a patio area solely for guests use. There's lots to do locally, with beaches nearby, and a short walk will bring you to the heart of this colourful village, with lively pubs & restaurants, Irish music. Kinvara is an ideal base to explore The Burren, Co.Clare. Please read our check-in guidelines below before making a booking. The cabin itself has a bedroom, living room/kitchenette, and little shower room/WC. It really is tiny, measuring only 6m x 3m in total. It's very bright, with lots of windows, and a skylight. (The bedroom has blackout blinds) Hot water is instant, the shower is good. There's a wood-burning stove, for the colder months. It's heavily insulated all round, which means it keeps the heat in, and also keeps the summer heat out, so it's a nice ambient temperature. There is a filter water tap at the sink for drinking water, to save on buying bottled water (Kinvara has a low single-use plastic campaign) The lighting is powered by a solar panel, and the toilet is a composting type, called a Separett Villa. Check it out online! Outside the cabin, there is a partially covered deck where you can enjoy a coffee in the morning, or a drink in the evening sun. There is also a patio area where you can use a barbecue (not provided - single use ones are available in the village). The garden is surrounded by hedges, shrubs, flowers and trees, and there is a herb garden to pick from if you are cooking! There are two cabins, side by side. We are both happy to meet and converse with guests. We have been living here for a few years, and Catherine in particular knows lots of great things to do and see locally. Equally, we are happy to leave people to their own peace/sense of adventure, if that's what you prefer. The cabin is about 10 minutes walk from the centre of the village. While in Kinvara you will find a weekly farmers market (on Fridays, (March - October), lively traditional Irish pubs with nightly music (in the summer months) and a handful of gourmet restaurants, as well as the grocery store, post office, etc. About 10 minutes away by car there is a Blue Flag beach called Traught. The Burren is a short drive away where there is wonderful hiking and exploring possibilities. Kinvara is a popular base from which to explore the cliffs of Moher, Doolin, the Burren, and other places of beauty. You can get to Kinvara by bus from Galway city, 2/3 times per day, and we are about 10 minutes walk from the bus-stop. The same bus route (Bus Eireann route 350) goes to Doolin, and the famous cliffs of Moher. We can pick you up from the bus if necessary. To explore further, you need a car. 1. PLEASE NOTE: Please check with us before making a booking, if you will not be able to check in between 5-7pm. We may be going out! We will help with an early or late check-in if we can, but we need to know in advance, so please notify us as soon as you know that you will be arriving outside of these times. Due to the nature of the cabins, we cannot do a self- checkin, as there are things we need to explain when you arrive. 2. There is a cigar lighter- type socket in the cabin for charging mobile devices, so best to bring a car charger with you, if you have one. We can possibly help with adaptors if you don't have what you need. 3. We live right next door to a service station, which is not very busy. They have fresh croissants in the morning, and a hot food counter all day! We supply complimentary breakfast cereals, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper, washing up liquid, handsoap, toilet paper. 4. In the winter, the wood burning stove is the only heat source, there is no central heating, so you will be lighting fires to stay warm. It will be warm on your arrival, and we will show you how to light the fire. We supply everything you need for the stove. 5. In the winter months, places to eat out in the village are limited, specially after dark. 6. There's no washing machine, but the filling station right next door has washers and dryers for public use, available 24 hours. 7. We've been included in The Irish Times listing of "50 of the best places to stay, eat and play around Ireland's coastline" in July 2017. See photos. 8. The cabins are in a secluded area at the rear of our garden, and it is largely peaceful and quiet. But, we live on the outskirts of the village, not in a remote part of the countryside, so there will be the noises of village life from time to time. 9. I'm sorry we don't allow pets.
